Given that the game itself confronts you with mortality (the very second dungeon involves tombs and an underground graveyard, we have a place literally called Palace of the Dead, a graveyard in Eastern Thanalan thats involved in quite a few quests, a memorial in Coerthas for a beloved character... and thats not even going into discussing characters dying) thats a very weird and weak stance to take.
If character deaths are different to you because its not a real person dying, you can always pretend the memorial is for a player-character, not the player themself - I could see people put those up for someone who stopped playing for whatever reason, not only the most... permanent one.
It doesnt has to be a giant grave with "ONE DAY YOU WILL DIE TOO" written on it...
