Tombstones with writable messages [dev request]

It would be cool if we got tombstones, wooden crosses, and other shrine like items that can have messages inscribed on them when you click on them.

It’s inevitable that people die in the real world, and that some of those people happen to be friends that we spend a lot of our time in game with. We should be able to place down a grave, or shrine for them. Mourning is essential to help with healing over the loss of a loved one.

This would be an easy solution for those that wish they would make memorials.

Now you see, this I can get behind. But I feel that separate internal and external options would need to be made available. The thing is, these aren't special unique memorial items, they're a more generic item that can be used across the board. Perhaps they could function similar to guestbooks allowing people to come and write their messages of condolences?

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I love that idea! As long as they are RMT safe. It would be offensive if they just left messages on them to advertise.

It'll be added towards the Cash Shop for sure and aside from the Eternal Bonding Ceremony, we'll have the Eternal Parting Ceremonies. Get a plain rock with the free version and a nice marble tombstone if you pay $20. I'm calling it now.

Funerals are not cheap in real life, I can't imagine that they would be in XIV either.

The point is a way to dedicate the passing of a loved one. I would be fine if it were in the cash shop for a modest price, but a whole ceremony? I think that’s excessive, and might be a bit in privacy invasive. A simple furniture, so that people can choose to mourn in their own way would be perfect. Maybe also a picture frame that lets you save in game screenshots could come in hand as well.

It could (and should) work just like the Message Books we got: With settings that allow you to delete comments or only display them once you "confirmed" them. I doubt that RMT bots would use them to advertise, but offensive comments could come from elsewhere...

To me games are escapism and I don't think I would want to see a morbid reminder of mortality in my neighbors yard.

Given that the game itself confronts you with mortality (the very second dungeon involves tombs and an underground graveyard, we have a place literally called Palace of the Dead, a graveyard in Eastern Thanalan thats involved in quite a few quests, a memorial in Coerthas for a beloved character... and thats not even going into discussing characters dying) thats a very weird and weak stance to take.

If character deaths are different to you because its not a real person dying, you can always pretend the memorial is for a player-character, not the player themself - I could see people put those up for someone who stopped playing for whatever reason, not only the most... permanent one.
It doesnt has to be a giant grave with "ONE DAY YOU WILL DIE TOO" written on it...

Nice troll bait, the guest book isn't on the mog station and this is a similar idea

Please don't go down that rabbit hole, if this was considered it should be ingame
