Taken from a reply I once submitted to a video on youtube, I wanted to run it by the forum for some opinions.

Mystic for those who remember it from FFT specialized in debilitating status effects that lowered stats, as well as could cause polymorphing effects to enemies. It was not one of my favorites back when i originally played FFT but I kept one around anyway, just in case i wanted to raise a casters faith, or a warriors bravery significantly.

With the inclusion of Red Mage, I think to a certain degree the barrier between role walls is weaker than it used to be. So long as the over all vision of a job is upheld, I think certain aspects of what kind of abilities a job should or shouldn't have can be overlooked. With that said, my ideas for Mystic were it to ever come about, would likely make it look similar to wizard and red mage and arcanist in some regards.

Mystic in FFT could absorb hp, and mp from enemies with two different spells. They could increase a enemy or allies faith or lower it, causing either to have stronger magic attacks or weaker ones, while also effecting whether or not they had higher magic defense, or lower magic defense. (increased Faith would increase magic damage, but also make you more vulnerable to magic damage, and vice versa) They could do something similar with Bravery in that increasing it would increase physical damage while also increase the likelihood of activating your counter abilities, while low bravery meant the opposite, and could lead to you transforming into a chicken.

Mystics could also inflicting more commonly seen status effects like blindness, petrification, zombie, silence, berserk, confusion, paralyze, and sleep. Some of these clearly would need to be reworked, but we've seen nearly all of them implemented in the game and usable by monsters. Why not have a caster who can do something similar, all centralized in one job, however since these statuses alone don't usually cause damage and that's what the role is all about, some kind of DoT effect would likely have to accompany some of them, and not all of these would have to be vs enemy target either., Berserk, as well as the aforementioned Faith UP, and Bravery UP abilities worked to improve party members in FFT so why not here, though some names and effects would again need to be changed (berserk) but I feel like a

This like Petrify could be a one hit vulnerability effect that makes the next non-auto attack hit as if the target was vulnerable, or maybe it is vulnerability since i think only one other job offers it. Silence could be a DoT that perhaps also attempts to silence.

Basically a DPS that could heal itself only both mp and hp, as well as buff itself or allies with things like bravery and faith, debuff enemies with all the before mentioned debuffs plus new ones that lower various aspects of a enemy. I just think its one of the more easier ones to see being implemented in the future if they really wanted to.
