    Devotion and Enkindle problem

I\\'ve noticed that a lot of the time when I cast Devotion or Enkindle with my Summoner it will sometimes look like it cast (the icon will start going into cooldown), then a second later it will suddenly go back to being ready to use as if it was cancelled or something. It doesn\\'t do this for the other pet abilities. What is causing this and how can I prevent this so I\\'m not just spamming it over and over until it stays activated? I tried searching for this but didn\\'t see it anywhere. I\\'m aware of the problem that other pet actions have where they don\\'t cast right away because the pet is doing something else, but this seems to be different because it will look like it went off and then changes it\\'s mind.

Do you suffer from any latency issues at all? That's the only thing I can think of at the moment (although I'm sure there are other theories as well), as a couple of times in the past when latency has been awkward for me some actions take a second or third input before they actually activate properly.

I noted that this used to happen to me if I tried to use Enkindle and Devotion concurrently, one after the other. In this case, using one will cause the pet to "interrupt" the use of the pet command coming immediately after it, and will not queue the following action the way most other actions would. However, if you did, say Aetherpact > Ruin II > Enkindle, the pacing should in theory allow them both to be executed in relatively reasonable timing, if that makes sense. I'm probably not explaining it very well...

Pretty much what Chaotic said. You can't use pet abilities back to back in general, however. So you'll feel this with Contagion/Shockwave/Aerial Slash if you're manually casting them back to back with Garuda, and similarly if you do so with Ifrit for whatever reason. Enkindle/Aetherpact are notable in that any other ability can interrupt them though, even Aetherflow abilities and Shadowflare. The best thing to do is to treat them like a long animation and only use one of them per GCD.

Your pet has a gcd and ogcd lock similar to the player. Latency could play into it, or your pet was preoccupied.

Pets have a separate GCD timer from player GCD timer. Pet specific ability/spells should not be double weaved. You can still do something like use Rouse and Devotion together since Rouse is based off player GCD timer and Devotion is based off pet GCD timer.
