You lack imagination. A beastial race might not fit in with society. They might not be able to wear certain things or their version might be torn and ill-fitting. They might attempt the first few steps of a dance, stumble a bit, then fall on their butt, switch to their race dance, or give up with a sigh.

And that would cause out cry due to a certain race not having access to what others have. It's not lacking imagination, it's keeping in mind what could and would happen if any race was excluded from any current or future glamours/ emotes. You lack imagination. First of all there were two options I gave. So you didn't actually read.
Second the people who lack imagination don't have to play that race. Such a race would not be for their ilk.
Do you not remember the outrage around the male bunny suit? SE is not going to create an entire race that is locked out of a ton of gear and emotes. You lack imagination. Maybe you should reread what I said. There is a difference between a gender lock and a racial lock. You wouldn't chose such a race because you want to look like everyone else and be a dainty little princess.

They won't try this as this will create a whole slew of custom stuff to simply create a complete non-humanoid species, I wouldn't blame the developers for not wanting to do it.
Also there is the cut scene work, and I think that would be a nightmare for quality control.
Also this is just me, but I think it's best we don't give more material to that "one side" of the Otaku Sphere.
I agree with this, the Anime and Game Industry has been doing this for decades and it's obvious whom it's being pandered to a certain demographic.I will respectfully disagree. There is nothing I dislike more than gender-locked races. It often makes zero sense in lore and reeks of laziness and pandering. Plus, male Viera do exist and it would be easy to imagine a tall Amazonian man with long ears (please. cat boys. it is exactly the same concept.) and there is female Lupins in the game right now. They look exactly like male Lupins.
I hate it when males are delegated to being bestial and the women being humanoid and beautiful. Either do both genders or none at all.
I mean I guess I don't blame the developers having some kind fantasy and all since they are mostly cooped inside a Video Game Industry building for gods know how long, but damn these developers need to get some girlfriends or if this is just some kind of outdated status quo since they been doing that to Beastman-like Women for decades in anime and games.
There are exceptions like Outlaw Star though, the males and females looked almost exactly alike.
Overall I'm kinda of neutral on the subject as it's just a choice of art despite how generic it can be, but fully aware of the issue surrounding this.

Stop trying to impose real world concepts on Final Fantasy. Are they supposed to consult wildlife before they use an idea?
I have never seen the word mammal used in game so I have no idea if they consider anything a mammal. Even if they do it's likely not exactly the same concept as we have. The people of this world are collectively referred to as "mankind" especially by the dragons. That suggests, (but is not conclusive) that all the races we have are related.
I'd be fine playing a race that can't wear every mogstation outfit.
the player-base is not monolithic.

I think that we should have a wilder-looking race, which could encompass Viera-like creatures but also wolf-like/fox-like animals.
