I posted this in the other server merge thread, but I feel it deserves a spot here too, so here's a copy of my post.

Yes, it's all well and good for my current active ls members. We can talk and figure out where our new home is.

But I have a couple close friends I've made over the months, one is off at boot camp and the other is having some medical issues. Both of them won't be around for the merge, and even though they'll be back soon, they'll get tossed to some random server!

Seriously, wtf SE? Either merge a server into another one, or allow returning players to choose. Don't auto kick them to randomness.

Are you calling my friends clones? I don't get what your saying here. I intend on wiping my char (but staying with my friends) when 2.0 hits, if you mean this game and 2.0 are clones? well, they aren't and will be near totally different games.

I can understand the OPs perspective, but there are other players that need this merge. Some of us are on worlds/servers with so few that we can't get a party to accomplish anything. Much of the content in this game (as little as it actually is) has gone uncompleted by me.

Now before you make accusations, I've leveled every DoW and DoM class to 50 and am nearly done with every DoH Class as well. I stand around and shout for hours to form parties to try and accomplish things. I'm very pro active. I was avid about trying to keep a successful linkshell going for the full year of 2011 but it was near impossible.

So, from my perspective, Mr Producer is a Saviour. I don't necessarily agree with his methods of merging, but I do thank him for doing something.

I'm not as easily put off by starting over as I've walked alone for the better part of 46 years and learned to survive. There are people everywhere you go. Many good and many bad. Start over... it happens sometimes in life (and in virtual life as well). Some things are beyond our control. Just live with it and get on with life/the game/whatever, lol.

What of any of that requires them to randomly assign people to servers, and not even announce server names?

Why can't they just merge your crappy little server into one that actually has people playing who enjoy their server. Just because you didn't land on a community you enjoyed we all have to suffer? I don't want to start over, I played this crappy game since launch because of the community, and now they are taking a wrecking ball to it.

You were the one with the problem, and it could have been easily fixed with a merge. Now people who were perfectly happy with their server situation have to suffer, why?

I am PRO server merge. I am not pro scattering the communities like sand in the wind.

I used to play FFXI (for 5 years), When Lakshmi was merged, another servers population was offloaded into ours. It worked great. Why can't FFXIV do the same?

That's the thing. They're pretty much going out of their way to make it this way. Are hidden server names part of a server merge? No. It's more effort to hide them than to release them ahead of time. We were all looking forward to more people--even the larger servers. You're reading "I don't like the way this is happening" as "THIZ SHOULD NOT HAPPEN DO NOT WANT." And then you even make our point for us. <_<;

Been playing since beta myself and I'm not too thrilled about the changes either. I'm all for a server merge, but I disagree about how they are doing it.

I know they are in the process of changing the game for the 2.0 reboot....been playing since beta....but having to play an entirely new game every 1-2 months has been getting really annoying, and this kinda puts a cherry on the top for me. My friends/linkshells that I have are primarily the only reason why I play anymore and this just may complicate the enjoyment of the game for me even further. I'm gonna try and stick with it, but I fear in the end, this is the one and only thing that will kill the game for me.

He is doing a grand job is fixing the atrocious mess this game launched in, the game isn't fixed yet. The only redeeming feature at the moment is community and friends I have had for over a year. That's a long time for friendships to form, I am quite attached to Trabia.

If these people are THAT important to you, and likewise you to them.

This merger shouldn't be an issue.

The method in which this situation is happening is not going to change from now to the point of execution. Which is why I am saying the above to you, and many people who are having trouble with this situation already.

Make your friends comes with you, if they do not want to come with you then you are nothing to them anyway or they have better friends, the one that doesnt whines over such a trivial issues really.

at first i thought you are just against server merge, but you do have a point here.
SE can see the population numbers of each server and they could ensure the balance.

let's say the population of active people on four servers are currently
A: 1300
B: 800
C: 1000
D: 500

SE sees that numbers, merges A & D and B & C.
they could keep the balance without spreading the population.
