For some the servername maybe means nothing but for me (and some others), it does.
I, as example, dont want to play on a Server named Gysahl. I just dont want to...
But if i have badluck (and im sure SE tries everything so i do have badluck), im forced to...
Thats not okay.

If your going to level with someone, start by using their actual name. My point was, if you got everyone that wants to role play on the same server, why do care what its called as long as the outcome is the same?
Maybe a logical answer but its still bs, you guys may not be attached to FF, but if I was on a server name of an FF game I didn't like or even play, that would be bummer for me :[ I still think this is bs, FFXI got one server name, and FFXIII got what 2 or 3? LAME!
Your previous mmo deserves more attn then some recent half assed rpg. Maybe XI players WANTED TO FIND OTHER XI PLAYERS. As a whole I'd rather play with XI players, half the people on my blist got my blist from not playing an mmo with any manners or respect previously. Most XI players understand not to go rampaging through a game effing people over.
I'd maybe take Mysidia, but my boyfriend and his friends would be more secondly attached to a FFVII or VIII and named server and I am not.

I'm not worried about the server names and although I had a reason why I chose Melmond when starting this game with my wife where Melmond was my least favorite but most memorable town in Final Fantasy 1 which was destroyed by the vampires in the Earth Cave... I hated but loved at same time how that Earth Cave was where you walk in and every damn you step you take you had to deal with a mob lol + server population matched the town's name lol it was one of the low population servers and name of the town in the first RPG I played Final Fantasy I (well now I think about it don't remember if it was DQ1 or FF1 first...)
Anyways as long as we get to choose servers once again in 2.0 it should be all good for this part of the server merge issue.
There is more to YoshiP's post aside from the server name stuff that needs to be explained to the community imo, pretty sure that's coming up sometime today.
Im sorry I was under the impression names mean nothing to you as long as the underlying point was the same, or am i wrong?
Addressing someone personally should be an obvious difference from addressing an as of yet named server that doesnt care for itself what its called. If you want to split hairs over semantics instead of commenting on the point of my post, then go find someone else to troll. My point was the name of the server shouldn't matter as much as the content of people that choose that server in order to accomplish what they want too. If all the RP people choose server 5, for example, and they all migrate there, does it matter more that the server ends up being named besaid? Or is it more important to you all that the outcome was that all the people that wanted to be on an RP server ended up on one regardless of what its named?
Wait, why am I arguing with someone that clearly isn't here to have a discussion, but rather just troll for the sake of trolling? More than a year in and I still haven't learned. /em shakes his head at himself.
SE probably just trolling us.
You know what, you're right.
I have my main linkshell, and even though it suck that I'll probably never play with some of my game friends again, we'd just have to change again for 2.0.
It sucks and makes no sense that we're forced to choose a random server while friends will choose another, but Square's not going to change their mind for me so I'll deal with it.
