Wedge let me level with ya here, ill see it everyday associated with my character, every time i log in, and every time Im talking to people ya know, outside of game. What we are focusing on is reversing this before you know, we get stuck with something we don't like.To me at least, a server name is nothing more than a tool that makes you more or less favorable to picking a certain world. I don't see whats keeping someone from starting a thread that says, SERVER NUMBER 5 WILL BE THE UNOFFICIAL RP SERVER. I mean, once your on the server, how often do you use your server name in conversation throughout your time playing the game. If anything, this gives people that want to play on a RP server but didn't go to besaid because they didnt know what it was the chance to join up. Instead of posting a thread complaining about something that isn't going to change, why not start one now while you have time that brings the people together that share your view onto one of the new servers? You certainly have a few weeks to get that going, and from the posts I have read in other OP's, there are a TON of people that would get onboard with that. Try to focus more on ways to turn what you perseive as a negative into a positive. As long as you accomplish your goal, who really cares what they end up naming the server?
If your going to level with someone, start by using their actual name. My point was, if you got everyone that wants to role play on the same server, why do care what its called as long as the outcome is the same?
Im sorry I was under the impression names mean nothing to you as long as the underlying point was the same, or am i wrong?
Addressing someone personally should be an obvious difference from addressing an as of yet named server that doesnt care for itself what its called. If you want to split hairs over semantics instead of commenting on the point of my post, then go find someone else to troll. My point was the name of the server shouldn't matter as much as the content of people that choose that server in order to accomplish what they want too. If all the RP people choose server 5, for example, and they all migrate there, does it matter more that the server ends up being named besaid? Or is it more important to you all that the outcome was that all the people that wanted to be on an RP server ended up on one regardless of what its named?
Wait, why am I arguing with someone that clearly isn't here to have a discussion, but rather just troll for the sake of trolling? More than a year in and I still haven't learned. /em shakes his head at himself.
I think if you read the whole thread you'll see people care about the name. Your "it doesn't affect anything anyway as far as i care- so you shouldn't have any option you want" seems more like arguing for the sake of to me.Addressing someone personally should be an obvious difference from addressing an as of yet named server that doesnt care for itself what its called. I did read the whole thread. Twice now actually.
I was trying to comment that instead of being totally upset at the potential of losing the besaid name, I would be more concerned with reorganizing one of the new servers in order to accomplish what besaid had in the past. I think (my opinion mind you) that people take pride more in what was accomplished on besaid MORE than they do with the name itself. I could be wrong, but I dont see as many people complaining over their server name being lost in other threads as much as I do by those from besaid. If I had a RP character on besaid, I would be working more towards keeping the culture and community that was formed on besaid alive more than I would be trying to keep a name I have no control over. The Op doesnt have any control over what name they end up getting, but they do have some control over trying to keep their community together. I love what Besaid has done even though I m not on that server. More than anything, I hope they are able to do it again, I just think they should focus more on that instead of focusing on things outside of their control. Control what you can, and deal with the things you cant as best you know how was what I was trying to get at.

Well I certainly wouldn't advise against doing that but if the problem can be circumvented by you know, getting the devs attention, I think fighting the two front war is advisable.I did read the whole thread. Twice now actually.

I suppose the analogy for me is lets say i have a favorite coffee cup, I'm looking at you Yoshi P, and then suddenly they take my cup and put in a box like 9 other boxes. Each may hold the same amount of coffee- but one of those is my favorite cup by god. I don't really like spinning for a 10% chance to get my favorite cup back when its a perfectly viable option to you know, show me the cups. SHOW ME THE CUPS!
