My big questions to the devs are these:
Will the inactive be able to choose their new server when they log back in? A week after? A month after?
Is it only active players who are being randomly repopped on a server?

It would be nice if I could leave a LS greeting message to let members of my LS know this is happening soon...
For the people who may be online when I am not.
Just signing the server names or bust bandwagon. I wouldn't pick hairstyle 1 without looking at it, wouldn't pick a class blind, wouldn't choose a character name blind. Why would i pick my server name blind? You know unless I was a guy with a mohawk on the side of his head playing cheese vendor named Inadequate McFailsalot.
As said before this is only the initial merge... A lot of you seem to be thinking about what's in front of you instead of down the road. Come 2.0 a lot is going to change which will more than likely include a way to freely transfer servers after a population stabilization.
Right now our community is already scattered..
SE has always been vague on information regarding the future of anything. However, if you are p2p you see the light at the end of the tunnel. So look to the future.. not the now.

I think all former XIV players should come back once server transfers commence and fill all 10 servers... just for lulz.
What is really alarming is the fact that they have no concept of what MMOs are all about. It is about the relationships that you form with friends online.
Why they just don't merge servers now and then allow people to change servers later is assinine.
Why only label one server as German/French. What about an Italian server? What about a French Canadian server?
Why they don't designate which servers are RP is inconcievable. Surely they must realize that there are RP players and non-RP players?
Why not name the final server names now? Is that so difficult?
Do they have anyone on their staff that worked on FFXI? They handled server mergers much more efficiently than their new plan.
There are much smarter MMOs out there. They actually provide PvP, PvE, RP and time zone labels on servers when you choose which server to start on.
They claim that they want to be competitive in the MMO market, yet their ignorance of how to properly handle server designation is alarming.
The only languages officially supported are EN, JP, FR and GE so they can only officially have those languages for servers.
Agree with this completlyWhy not name the final server names now? Is that so difficult?
They did, infact a large amount of the origanal dev team was from FFXI, but they all got moved after they failed.Do they have anyone on their staff that worked on FFXI? They handled server mergers much more efficiently than their new plan.
I do believe that SE has the intent of making every server global, however they went and saw that the German and French communities are substantially small so they marked one as 'preffered' for them just to give those people some guidelines if they want to stick with their countrymen, because they are very few.

Make it happen.
why the hell not break it up and rearrange the pieces to fit into new slots.. taking a smaller server and putting them in a bigger one wouldnt help the new players.. theyd be in a world established by all the veterans there and pretty much be shafted cuz itd be the original world still and new players tryin to make a yeahhh that
doesnt even look good in writing
