How about this? SE recommend new servers for the old ones so if you want to keep all your firend ls and all you just join the recomended server while anyone who wnats to change for whatever reason joins another one?

EXAMPLE

server 1 = Selbina
server 2 = Gysahl
server 3 = cornelia + wutai
server 4 = figaro + bodhum
server 5 = mysidia + karnak
server 6 = kashuan + palamecia
server 7 = trabia + melmond
server 8 = fabul + istory
server 9 = besaid + saronia
server 10 = Lindblum + rabanastre (recomended for europe)

wouldnt that be a almost perfect solution? almost like solution 2 from yoshi but still without revealing the severnames so everyone rushes for favorite servers?

SE just need to make an official lodestone post for it.

this ends up about the same as option 2, there is still the random forced move problem though

almost. the only real diffrence will be SE still doesnt need to reveal the server names so people wont hunt after best server name. Non active players could be moved to recomended servers too.
It would be the best form between option 2 and 4 in my opinion.

I am hoping that you are using the worlds as examples. I do not believe you have anymore insight to server populations then I do. Secondly, why should my server be designated the EU server? Why not a different server, such as.......Cornella?

Isn't lindblum the unofficial EU server? I know it is the unofficial german server because most germans are on Lindblum
