She's certainly not black; Kyri is a pink kettle at least!
I'd say you're no outcast. >![]()

I want a vote connected to log in. a vast chunk of the people who play never come to the forums, so the discussion is horribly skewed. (option 2 ftw)

This is so true.No solution will please everyone, but it seems like option 4 yields the possibility for people to bring their friends to a new place to meet new people and start an entirely new, cohesive community.
When you just smack to servers together, they just don't "fuse" like some people think. There's tension between people because each community may be radically different. It's fine for the people who were on the original server (in no small part because there are way more of them), but for the people coming in it's really not a positive experience. You're on Server A, but in a sub-community that belongs to server B. You'll never really be on the same page as the people you merged into. That's something that doesn't go away.
But if we all start over together, we can forge something entirely new. It sucks to leave what you have behind, but who's to say what you create next won't be even better?
If you have ever changed schools, jobs, communities, or countries, you will know how hard it can be to come into a new social system where everyone else already has established connections, heirarchies, feuds, etc.
Option 4 puts everyone on equal terms.
This would never make a difference no matter how it plays out. It makes no difference between two servers combining and LS collectively transferring and mixing it up in other servers. There is always going to be the potential of them clashing with one another. No solution will please everyone, but it seems like option 4 yields the possibility for people to bring their friends to a new place to meet new people and start an entirely new, cohesive community.

This sounds like something from someone who has either lost touch with this community or comes from a server with a low population. So far, all of the major LS on MY server want to stay together. Which is another thing... it's not going to stop most of the server transferring to the same place. There really is not much difference in that sense. In other senses, as in the inactive players, option 2 is kinder to them. Everyone speaks of 2.0 and being able to transfer, but what about the time between then? They need to be segregated and live out the last days until 2.0 on a server filled with unfamiliar faces due to this insufferable dev team making unintelligent decisions? Uh, no. Think again.
I only have one thing I am unhappy with in all of this. The priority in naming conflicts grants a mule character which is never played, but is playable in the sense that it is paid for, priority over a character that someone actively plays. If I actively use a character every day I play then why do I have to change my name to accommodate a character that hasn't been used in a year? It seems to me like the methodology chosen has the virtue of being simple, but lacks any acknowledgement of the effort put forth in developing a character.
For that matter if national governments, phone companies, and postal services can keep track of hundreds of thousands of people who share the same name why isn't it possible to manage this in an MMO? I don't buy that a mail system or a communication system can't work unless everyone has a unique name because in truth they work everyday in a world with 7 billion people.
There was no good way to do this. I started a thread about what would happen to our names a few weeks ago, and all-in-all I think the system SE chose for naming conventions is alright.. To be honest, it's one of the few things I do like about their current plan.I only have one thing I am unhappy with in all of this.
