It's actually not only that which most of us are concerned about.

By randomly assigning servers and allowing transfers, servers are going to fill up. Everyone on Selbina (one of the largest servers) can't simply plan to go to server 3, because as the server fills up not everyone will be able to get in. Which means linkshells are going to be broken up.

During the 2nd phase people might try to fix this by moving their linkshell to a low pop server where there is room, but even if you managed to get the majority of your friends to come with you on the first move (except the few that couldn't), they might not all want to go some low pop server just for those few people.

Linkshells and communities are going to be broken up, and if I was a less sympathetic man I would laugh at those of you pointlessly defending this system by suggesting you can "easily coordinate" everyone onto the same server with no issues when you end up being the only one in your LS who can't get on the new server with your buddies.

If they just did a merger of low pop servers into high pop servers, and then allowed transfers there would be no problems whatsoever and everyone could be happy.
