Yeah, I've seen it in the French announcement. It doesn't really help though, since
a) most English speaking EU players won't know about it, and
b) I'd end up on a server with mostly german/french players anyway.
The English 'translation' is really misleading, I'll present to you the exact words of YoshiP in Japanese which says literally EU sphere, and nothing about French or Germans specifically,
EU圏(といっても非常に多くの国と地域があります)の方々が、
できるだけ、同じタイムゾーンでプレイできるように
So that the players of the Eu Sphere ( Yet, it has an extremely large number of countries and regions) can play in the same time zone as much as possible
So yeah, I'd say that he intended for server 10 to be recommended for all EU players, including English speakers, considering the text in brackets that specifically refers to many countries.

Very liberal translation the English mods use then. A French+German server never really did make much sense. I wonder what made them write that, when even the French and German forums said "EU" and not FR/GER. Yoshi isn't even mentioning anything that can be related to "French" or "German" in that paragraph.
Bye. You will be missed. */cry*

Scandinavians, or people wishing to join a community of Scandinavian languages in FF XIV, please check my blog on Lodestone and submit a comment to make your interest known.

This came about because the original post on the Lodestone said French and German players. Haven't looked to see if they corrected this since the originalost.Very liberal translation the English mods use then. A French+German server never really did make much sense. What I like to hear what ever moved you to go with this? The reason why I had a hard time choosing Option ④ was because of the following factors.
The Cons of Option ④
The reason why I had a hard time choosing Option ④ was because of the following factors.
A: Players who belong to multiple communities might end up being torn apart by having to decide which community they will follow.
B: The option will cause stress on all players instead of causing stress on a number of players.
C: Players who decide to come back to the game after the merger will end up on a brand new World and no longer be able to player with friends.
Promoting a option and an explanation as for why this option was chosen over the others does usually not go by listing all the cons.
But then again I for one can not find any pro's in that option.

I would like to post some of my thoughts concerning the World Merge after reading Yoshi-P post.
1.Thank You for taking the time to explain you decision processes concerning this. Not many game Producers would. Kudos
2. Though I understand your thought processes I feel you came to the wrong conclusions based upon faulty or incomplete information.
3. The biggest error that I see that you made was the timing of the merge. This is coming shortly after Ver 1.21. It is apparent to me that this patch was going to be the defining one for the game prior to Ver2.0. Many people left the game when subscriptions started with the idea of coming back after Ver 1.21 to see if they really wanted to pay for playing the game til Ver 2.0. A merge date of April would have allowed you to determine how many were actually going to stay which might have altered your decision. It is not too late to do this. PLease consider it.
3. This goes hand in hand with #2. I fully understand and support your decision to base the merge on the number of actual subscribers. Thing is that number could change a great deal after Ver 1.21. Please take those player into consideration. Those who do not come back will have to take their chances prior to the implementation of a World Transfer System.
4. I have reservations about singling out 1 world for French and German players. While I understand your concern about giving them a community to develope of their own due to the small number of subscriber I personally feel that this is only going to lead to a sparsly populated world as many of them will opt to stay with the friends they have already made among the General Population. This is the 1 case where you should have taken a poll to determine the feasability of such a world.
5. Having said all this I think you will find out that you best option would have been #2. Having been a part of 2 World Merges in FFXI I know that, for whatever reason, a number of players would chose to start over on a world other then the merge worlds. I believe this would have helped to prevent overcrowding on the new worlds and would have contributed to an even distribution of the populace that you are striving for.
6. Lastly. You do not have to apologize to me for being human. The flu can be dibilitating to people who are not workaholics such as yourself. Let this be a lesson. Take care of yourself.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)

He already answered this.Greetings all,
Yoshida's most recent post lets players know the current plan for the World Merge.
[...]
For the Topics announcement, we considered temporarily taking it down, but we decided against that as we feared that if players were unable to see the information, you wouldn’t be able to discuss it with the same background knowledge. Therefore, we’ll be keeping the current announcement up as we go into next week.
[...]Although a note that it's being revised would be a good idea.
