    Discussion on tanking

Hello fellow tanks! So I have a question\discussion id like to have. So I have just started this game about a month or 2 ago so I'm still learning things. But I was wondering if it was normal for DPS when running general dungeons, to pull bosses and trash before the tank? I play WOW for a long time and that always irritated me as it does here but I'm newer so idk if it's a normal thing that I just don't know about or not. Thanks everyone!

Nope, that's just the DPS being impatient. Just sit back and let them die before continuing.

Depending on what dungeon you're running most people you meet in the duty finder have been through it several times and are anxious to get it done. Don't fret too much about it, you aren't doing anything wrong.

It's not always impatience. Some jobs have buffs or stacks that need time to ramp up. If we wait too long between pulls, those stacks fall off and our attacks lose potency and need to be built back up again.

It doesn't take all that long to build up stacks of Greased Lightning, after all it is designed to be self-perpetuating. I do agree that having all your stacks fall off all at once is kinda lame. It should drop one stack at a time. That being said though, if you feel like keeping your stacks is worth risking getting overwhelmed then have fun with that.

    (Dang no edit on mobile....)
I wanted to add that even SAM's rotation is designed to speed into its buffs so you're good after only two rotations.

As a team player, my best interest lies with the DPS themselves. If they're ready, then great it's time to pull and start tanking! Speaking frankly, within your leveling dungeons and average casual duty finder setting, there isn't anything a tank needs to wait for.

Just suck it up and voke and establish hate if your DPS pulls first.

I'd have to disagree. The tanks should be the ones to set the pace for a run. I might not like speed runs, but if the tank can hold the hate then I'll do my best to keep up. If they want to take it slow that's OK too. DPS is just way to squishy to go running ahead.

Ultimately it comes down to communication (which I've found sorely lacking in dungeons since I've been back). Let the party know your level of comfort in how fast you want the run to go and get their input.

The wall to wall pull lets them know exactly what I'm planning and expecting to happen.
