Please add an elevation, or height button to housing.
Is there a game developer reason that would make developers feel it's unrealistic?
There's some quirks and tricks to housing. Why does it have to be this way?

That be nice and wouldn't have stairs taking up so much room.
There was a topic a while back that had one or two people argue very strongly against being able to stack items because people would "do crazy things" so i guess there are people out there that really would see this as a detriment.
Please, SE.

Yeah, i really wish they would add this. It's already possible as is with many items, but only with a lot of fussing about. If they really didn't want to make it possible they would probably have fixed the floating tricks a long time ago.
I will echo this statement; using various tricks we can place objects in many places the Housing UI does not usually let us. Furniture can be placed in walls and pillars, on stairs, over windows and in midair. So why not change the UI so we have complete control? Add the elevation option. They could also drop the additional rules for placement imposed by the UI so only the one inviolable rule, the object's center must be on a relevant surface and not inside an outer wall, is used.
I would also love to see this as a feature
That would be nice, but can we also have an item scale button (expect chair/bed etc, furnitures without character interaction)

Item scaling yes yes!
