Oh, good! It doesn't mention watching Netflix while mindlessly pressing A on my Xbox 360 controller as being bad!

I don't understand how they could ban you for this until they remove the option in the ffxiv config that says "Enable gamepad when application is in background"

to me, by allowing that they are giving you the ability to watch netflix and spam enter with the game minimized, so they shouldn't penalize you for doing it.

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. However the only "good or legit" method by SE to detect your bot is sending a tell to you by a GM and not answering. It would make you look guilty at SE "eyes" bc you didnt answer him while you were staring at TV or whatever you were watching.

Good bots answer GMs. Even if SE starts enforcing anything (roflmao AS IF) the only ones being hurt would be the people that use the pad to craft while watching a movie ;D

Good bot don't answer GM, as you may be asked something specific and not just to say "hello! no I swear I'm not AFK!". On XI while fishing, you could be asked to stop fishing, take a step back, /sit and then stand back up, all that upon GM's command.

so basically its safer to use a bot that notifies you when you get a tell or have been mentioned in chat/emote etc and save your thumb the exercise lol

technically i'd still be watching netflix but i'd be safe when someone starting messaging me.

they need to implement something where the window pops back up into the forefront if you receive a tell or something. that way bots would still be caught, but legit people watching netflix would realize they are being talked to.

No, what they need to do is revamp crafting so that it's not mind numbingly boring. When nobody wants to play an integral part of the game because it's something monotonous, you have a serious problem and likely need to take the entire system back to concept. Forcing people to endure this nonsense is in no way conducive towards creating a fun play environment.

That being said, do you really think the people using turbo controllers and high-end keyboards are going to worry about this when obvious bots have been reported for months with no action are still running about?

so what people got 50 crafts by mashing the button themselves, someday in 20 years they'll look back and go "i could of been getting laid, or doing anything better with my life then leveling up this boring craft by hand" When I look back at mmo experiences I like them to be good, when I look back at XIV I will always remember "Tanaka created the only thing in the world that can actually bore someone to death!"

Well said. If they want to fix the issue they need to fix what drives people to use these programs.

And most of us watching netflix while crafting are smart enough to play windowed, minimize netflix so that you can still see a good majority of the game screen, and know when we are being talked to. I don't feel like watching a movie and crafting at the same time violates any rules unless your using one of these third party things to do so. And if SE DOES care that I am multitasking, then by all means, they should feel free to take Dreamer's advice and make a crafting system that doesn't suck so hard.
