I wasnt trying to go to extremes. I was just asking how do you remove the cap without it being abused? People rush through content as it is, removing the cap on current gear is going let people do that faster. You'd have to remove all the tomes and replace the system so that doesn't happen. Unless you have a better idea, cause I dont.

This is the extreme I was talking about, I was not talking about getting rid of the cap completely, but allowing people gear more then one job. Why is this confusing?

I thought it was talked about here before, put it simply each role would have its own cap, allowing you collect more then "one time a week" nonsense. (same with the 24 man and 8 man things)

I really hope they start putting all those different currencies in a currency tab though.. or.. MORE ideas how to sell the playerbase more retainers, yay.

It's very sad for me to admit, but I lost faith in Yoshi-P.

    Long time player of FFXI.
I've played my share of FFXIV v1, and was thrilled when he annonced a reboot.
Everything looked fine. Gameplay was fun, lacking depths but hey the fondation, at least, are strong. He can build up from there.

Patchs were released, nothing really changed...That's ok, we're building a community, the game is a success, this will surely evolve with the next expansion, Yoshi-P said so.

And then Heavensward. Level cap increased, the story was fun, the new skills too. But that was all. Everything else felt like déja-vu. Nothing new with the gamplay, they just added a longer rotation to do.

So I took a break. Maybe it's me, I've played too much for too long, I need to take a step back and realize how awesome this game is.

    But no.
And since then, I only sub one or two months a year, just to check on the story.
I should be thrilled to come back after being away for a year. Thrilled of all the new content, the new systems, the changes to the game...
Instead I know there will still be tomestone. The patch donjon to farm ad nauseum, the new extreme, raids and savage, with the same recycled mechanics, juste different graphics on top of it.

The art is good, the story can be too. But I feel that the soul of the game isn't there anymore.
Maybe I was exepting too much from the start, but it feel like a copy/paste game patch. And instead of making the gameplay harder and/or more interesting, they mainsteam it a little more each time.

The gameplay feels less fun everytime I try to get back to it. Rotation on top of rotation. I'm still waiting on a system that makes you team up with your party member instead of just mindlessly do your rotation for yourself.

The RPG part is virtually absent -minus all the glamour-. Everyone get the same gear, the same skills, the same stats...

And I know, there is tons of additionnal content to do in this game. TT, LoW (lol), Chocobo Races, Housing...All of that is good.

But the core of the game, the gameplay, feels blank to me.

I know what you mean. When we were relegated to generic roles and a set skill loadout I joked that the next armor set they should release should be a white jumpsuit with the words "Tank", "DPS" or "Healer" and a barcode.

The reason there was a delay in Patch 3.1 was that Yoshi-p wanted to give the team a short break because they had been working non stop since they decided to rebuild 1.0

As far as I'm concerned, FFXIV is a fun single player RPG that I have to buy a new Season Pass for every two years to get access to quarterly DLC updates that includes the content I enjoy, which is the MSQ. So long as that keeps on rolling, I don't mind if it's same old, same old.

Not saying it's an excuse for anything but the money and resources SE has to use to translate does play a bit of a factor. But I don't play/never played WoW so I can't say anything. I do know some people who play and they said l, basically, every annoyance and grievance that is posted on this forum is mirrored on theirs. And admittedly, I have no frame of reference, this is my first MMO. Not a bad start though.
Wow has much more languages than FF14, however there's to say that the text they need to translate is not on the same quantity, since FF14 has a much more elaborate story than wow with some sentences having different outcomes depending on what you did, the same doesn't really apply to wow

On topic: Dunno about other ppl but to me was enough when Ghostcrawler said that 5.4 on wow was going to have a super secret new feature that they haven't yet show and that raiders were asking for years only for it to be......pet tournament battle......................................
After that I've started not caring for this kind of statement, they are simply BS

I really don't believe they even play their own game, much less anyone else's. So things they add probably are new...to them.

Yoshida said in an interview post eureka release that the team was fast going home to play eureka...
In the same interview he explained how much eureka was fun and all...

A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

No more or less than putting gear progression behind an unhealthy wall of RNG and grind, like a certain other MMO has done the past couple of expansions. Not sure why it's worth bringing up when all MMOs look to find ways to convince players to stick around between major patch windows.

That particular system was asked for by players, if you happen to remember that housing demolition wasn't added until 3.1 after months of being a requested feature as a response to the lack of housing availability precisely because the system as originally and purposefully employed by SE did not lock you into renewing to keep your house.

Kind of interesting that a detail like that keeps being forgotten when criticisms about SE's "locking into subscriptions" practices are brought up.

At least I would be doing something in a certain other MMO whereas this one I essentially log off. That isn't to say WoW's system is perfect, far from it. But that doesn't make the staggered releases any less annoying. I would hope FFXIV aspires to better than mindless RNG grind...

Another detail forgotten is when people asked for that system, they wanted longer than 45 days and to have it tied into their subscription. That way, in the event they were away for whatever reason, they weren't required to have someone log into their account and step inside their house, which breaks the ToS. Regardless, they can have their demolition system, just stop prattling on about taking breaks then because it's nonsense.

Perhaps a better solution is to actually fix their abysmal housing system.
