What was the first hardest fight for you in a particular job?

I just finished Keeper of the Lake for the first time as a BLM, and I realized...wow, this was actually pretty tough due to having to pre-position when fighting good ol' Middy. And then that got me to thinking...with any job that you have experience with, what was your first most difficult fight on that particular job? It could be dungeons, trials, Savage, Ex...

    ...Eureka???...

tldr; what was your first most difficult fight for a particular job, and why?

O8S Godka as WHM (Or any healer in general I suspect) whilst still in ilvl 340 gear at the start of progression.

The first hour felt like it was just recalibrating my head to grasp the sheer amount of incoming damage that fight throws at you right from the outset. After the relatively sedate pace of O7S, it was a bit of a surprise to say the least. Great fight and probably the first time since A3S that I've felt properly taxed as a healer in this game.

Honestly I'd have to say it would be any of the job fights. since their solo and you can't depend on other players to back you up. The hardest I've had to deal with was the final battle with blm in Storm Blood. It was difficult to utilize skills both as a tank and dps.

MNK during Pazuzu fight, you rarely outrun the stupid huge range for Plague of Locusts with sprint and FoW.

When I first started the game? Titan as Black Mage. I don't think I need to explain beyond that.

Back in the day I'd say Ifrit EX as a healer. That was really the first one where you had to deal with a large amount of random damage coming in....didn't help that you couldn't stand with your party for half the fight to use Medica/Succor.

I still don't understand thing mechanics on Ifrit Ex, tbh. The nails are a pain with all the vuln stacks unsynced... I have a hard time imagining how difficult it was synced.

Embarrassingly enough I think it was one of the 50-60 Samurai job quests. Probably the level 54 one. I remember just getting absolutely destroyed by the bosses Rage of Halone, and this was back when I first started playing. I had like 5k hp and the boss would do 3k every Rage of Halone. Third Eye wasn't cutting it to say the least. I didn't know what role actions were and I definitely wasn't geared properly. Surprisingly, that fight inspired me to really research the class to find out if I was doing something wrong, and that's when I realized just how important role actions and gear and rotations really were. It was a tough fight, and I had below 10k gil due to buying new gear, but gosh darnit I finally beat that guy! And boy was I proud!

I think that was one of the few times where I was really personally pushed on a job, and the habits that that quest inspired me to adopt really helped me out with learning Summoner and finally going into Savage.

Oh gawd, I just cleared that SAM job quest a few nights ago. I'm so used to half-assing it through the job quests, and I went into that with the same mindset. Took me about 5 tries. Lol :x
