    Physical and Magical Damage?

Is there any way to distinguish between these kinds of attacks at present? I play casters and I have Addle for Savage Raids, so I know if Exdeath is casting Meteor or Kefka is using Light of Judgement that I can cast it safely.

But often I find myself wondering if certain attacks are magical or physical and I'm not sure if there is a way in-game to tell. I think if there isn't, something as simple as blue text for magic attacks and red text for physical attacks would work wonders in helping to convey that kind of information better to the player.

I was going to say they used to color code physical and magical with blues, red's and purples (but you beat me to it).
I do not remember what old FF game I first saw that in though.

    color coding is helpful...and distracting.

Right now the only 100% way to tell what damage type a move happens to be using in-game means is to pop Raw intuition and see if you could parry it, since parry only blocks physical.

I definitely think some sort of in-game system to tell the difference between the two would be a nice convenience.

Just look at the attack animation.
If it's a fist to your face, it's physical. If it goes pew pew at you it's probably magical.

98% of the time this will hold up.

Not true. You can look at the combat log and check the enemy actions.
    Instants: "X casts y" - magic, "X uses y" - physical
    Cast bars: "X begins casting y" - magic, "X prepares y" physical

Although for a much easier way to tell what is what, simply go to fflogs, pick any example of the encounter you're interested in and look at damage taken section for an individual player for a list of boss attacks: if it's listed in blue it's magic, if in orange it's physical.

    If you need to know on the spot, what Canadane said goes most of the time. If you wanna get real specific though, check your battle log;

If it has a cast bar it should say:
    * "X begins casting (spell name)" for magic damage
    * "X prepares (ability name)" for a physical attack

    Or if it's instant:
    * "X casts (spell name)" for magic,
    * "X uses (ability name)" for physical
