What's up with the Monster Hunter armor?

So MHW gets one of the most iconic armor sets from FFXIV, making you really feel like a badass Dragoon soaring through the skies, and FFXIV gets two gear sets that look like they could drop from any dungeon and look nothing like something you'd find in MHW?

Maybe I'm acting entitled, I'm sure the fight itself was already a lot of work, but would it really have been that hard to give us actual Rathalos armor? I don't think I was the only one hoping for that when the event was announced, especially since it'd actually be something new in terms of glamour.

I like it. They actually gave males justice this time around. I was expecting them to make the female armor look the best and screw males over again but they proved me wrong.

Not really...I feel like the male characters are always getting the short end of the stick when it comes to armors in MMOs with a lot of them being more suited for women. Either that or we're just left out all together. Granted FFXIV is one of the few games that has a pretty good balance of male/female gear.

I think it looks awesome and I will be grinding my ass off to get it.

It looks nothing like something you'd find in a Monster Hunter game, instead of giving us a unique glamour (for XIV anyway) directly lifted from World, they took one of the most iconic sets from that series and made it generic XIV armor with new textures. It's a testament to this game's gear design that a badass bulky armor with a beastly helm had to be turned into a slim jacket/shirt with a circlet in order to "fit in Eorzea more"

Have you seen the MHW FFXIV armor? It's literally the DRG lv50 relic gear. I'd personally be more disappointed with that than what we got in FFXIV. I'm cool with the armor (for the male characters at least).

And what's wrong with that? It's an armor set from FFXIV, one of the most recognisable ones in fact. Maybe the Warrior AF1 or the Monk AF3 would have been better to represent FFXIV and/or Stormblood as a whole, but considering what they did with Dragoon and the way they combined it with the Insect Glaive class is pretty clever considering how similar their playstyles are, and some of the stuff they did with the set (having the kinsect projectile turn into Mirage Dive) is just really smart and thoughtful. Maybe it's a bummer if you don't play Dragoon in XIV sure, but a lot of work and care was put into it to translate well into the... world of Monster Hunter World, while keeping it as faithful to its original iteration as possible.
