    Renaming Service

    I just recently transferred my character to Sargatanas, and even though there is no character with the name I had, not even a level 1 placeholder with nothing leveled and just level 1 in a single job, the system forced a rename onto my character. I was in a bit of a hurry, as we had to raid that day, so I just added an apostrophe. This morning I paid $10 for a character rename service, and it's not letting me choose the old name. I did a character search again (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...ame=&classjob=) and there still is no character with my name on Sargatanas, not even a level 1 placeholder character, nor anything even remotely close to it. I also checked to make sure that it's not limited to 1 unique name per Data Center, and as you can see from the character search, there are multiple data centers that have more than 1 Lan Mandragoran, so that cannot be the case. IE: on Aether data center, there's a Lan Mandragoran on Adamantoise, Balmung, Gilgamesh, Mateus, Siren, Zalera, and Jenova and on Primal there's a Lan Mandragoran on Brynhildr, Famfrit, Malboro, Lamia, and a few others. I tried putting in a ticket for a GM to help and was told this falls outside of their scope of services they're allowed to perform. I would understand if there's already a character on the server with that name, but there isn't, not even a fresh character. Can you guys help with this or forward it to whoever does have enough authority to deal with it? Thank you so much!

    Unfortunately, your issue requires the assistance of a Game Master in-game. We do not have the resources in the forum to assist with your request. To contact a Game Master simply type “/supportdesk,” which will bring up the menu to contact one for further assistance.

    I already tried in-game and was told it falls outside the scope of services that Game Masters can assist with. I've now tried out of game, and I'm also being told it falls outside the scope of services you perform. I'm seriously lost here, who do I need to contact that has enough authority to actually deal with this issue?

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    If the game forces you to change your name once you move and won't let you change it with the name change service, then there is another character on that world with the same name, even if you can't find it. It's possible that there is a 1.0 character on that world with the same name that won't appear on the lodestone, but I can't tell for certain. Regardless, you will have to choose a different name.

    I run into this issue a lot with FFXIV. Something will come up, I will try to contact support and I simply get a very generic response telling me to use the active helper thing in the game or ask the community on the forums. It seems odd that the customer service side of this game can't simply provide me with at least the information I need when I contact them. I generally have to respond to their email and ask in more detail before I get something other than the generic response. It's upsetting when you pay for an ongoing sub and put money into the game to not even have your questions answered let alone things fixed. Hope your issue gets resolved.

    I do apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. When contacting the in-game support it is very important to be very clear and explain your problem in detail on the ticket.
