And also, to Fiosha and Shneibel, those codes were meant to be given away for free, not to be sold for personal profit, so in turn that could be a breach in the terms of contract/use if someone was to do that. If SE didn't want to give the "game away for free" they would not have made those passes

agree and top of that buddy pass is a full account people don't give that out for free anyone at least a few people lol some are nice enough to give them out for free.

Paying for it is fine if you haven't tried it out before. He was in beta and we all know what this game was like at launch. Honestly, I bought it the other day because i was bored and even the guys at my local gamestop were trying to get me to NOT buy it. Bottom line is, SE stated that at the launch of patch 1.21 they were going to do more PR to try to get more people to play. But with all the people still in the local game stores and not to mention pretty much everywhere you go (except for the FF14 forums) saying how bad it was and not to bother, They still won't make any money. They should, on the other hand, start a trial period (14 days if anything, hell, a week would work) to show people the changes that have been made. Yes, they wouldn't make any money initially off the keys, BUT they would probably make more money off subscribers that it would make up for that. Or they could require a purchase of the game after you hit 10 or something idk. But I just don't see them making anything on it without it. I had 2 buddies of mine who played it for the free time that it was F2P and they stopped when the charges came just because they said they wanted to put there money elsewhere. That's all i'm getting at though honestly. It's just smart business at this point

14days free trial wont happen to 2.0 right now is testing and rebuilding they want people who paying to give feedback and help the game grow. So anyone who want to join in the live 1 year event and want to get the stuff in it and learn and read the storyline have to pay for the game. But sadly the 14days free trial wont happen too 2.0 and i see that as a good thing and bad.

Just tell your friend to pay or wait or if you get lucky enough someone on here would give you buddy pass.

This. If he's still that stuck in the past, odds are he'll nitpick and whine about every small detail. Who in their right mind would give up their buddy pass for a complete stranger who probably won't stick around?

The buddy pass is worth $20.00 at this point. I'm not sure why SE did it this way, but there's a lot of folks out there with their CEs, unused buddy passes, and have stopped playing the game (and do not keep up with forums so unlikely to check here).

The Buddy Pass is literally a full copy, so it's like we're buying it for you. I think this is why you'll find no one here will part with it.

They're holding on in case they can get one of their friends to play.
