PS4 Chatpad Question

I may be getting a chatpad for my controller today, and I had a question. Will the game recognize it as a USB keyboard? As in, when I hit enter on the chatpad, will that ready my chat box, or do I still have to manually select the chat box with the controller? I'm hoping enter automatically makes it type because that seems way faster and easier than having to use the pad to move the mouse over, then select the chat box. Thanks!

While i don't know the answer to that specific question I do know that you'd be better served with a wireless kb and mouse. you can get a cheap logitec for $20.

I brought a chatpad once but found it quite flimsy and awkward to press such small buttons. Never got to test it properly on FFXIV though, but in the end I ended up getting dual wired/wireless keyboard and it's generally so much nicer to type with for just about anything on the PS. Probably won't need a mouse though unless it's something you intend to use often, otherwise the Virtual Mouse Mode in-game (using controller) is enough for the odd thing or two.

So I got it with the promise I could return it with 7 days, no questions asked, and... I love it. It works great, it's not clunky like I've read they are. And it does prompt the chat as soon as you hit enter on it. Basically it's perfect, and I am content.

If your using a controller can enable direct chat in config. Basically eliminates the need to press enter to open the chat box. You just start typing
