Controller stopped working

Hello,

So I started having an issue with my Xbox one controller no longer being recognized by FFXIV. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago after a previous patch. Normally I have to restart my computer to have my controller work again however this time it seems to not work. I have seen other threads with the same issue but none of the suggestions have worked for me. This seems to be limited to just FFXIV considering my controller has no issue with other games.

I'd like to get some more information about the issue you are having:

When did this first start happening? Did anything change or update on your PC that coincides with this?

Can you elaborate on the exact issue? Does the controller simply cease to function with XIV, or do you lose control of it periodically while playing?

Do you use the controller wirelessly or do you connect it with a USB cable? Have you tried both?

Do you have another controller that you test the game with? If so, do you run into the same issue?

I have had some updates on my PC but I don't think that would be the issue. I use to have this issue maybe a year ago but back then all I needed to do was restart the game to get my controller working again. The controller would randomly stop working when I would be playing and I would just loose all controller functions, It would happen maybe like once a day. I have not tried a wireless controller and I have tried 3 different controllers and I still have the issue.

I have found the issue!

So Apparently there is a bug with controller support on steam with a recent update. It forces your controller to show up as a Steam controller which creates input issues and stops your controller from working. i fixed it by going to Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings and unchecked all the boxes.
