Audio sometimes cuts out since a week ago

So I've been getting an issue since last weekend that's happened to me twice where all of FFXIV's sound will completely cut out. Doing anything in the in-game sound menu has zero effect, the only thing that fixes it is relaunching the game.

It happened during duties, but not the same duty - I'm pretty sure once last weekend before patch 4.31 during an Extreme, and just now during Praetorium. FFXIV is the only application affected by this, every other program continues on just fine. It starts with what sounds like a pop and then cuts out.

I'm on Windows 10, and curiously I find that if I open my volume mixer after the audio cuts out that FFXIV's volume indicator appears as if there is a max volume sound constantly being played. If I mute or unmute FFXIV from there, the 'pop' I heard when the audio cut out repeats despite not being able to hear anything when it's unmuted.

This has been happening to me as well. Windows 10 here too.

The main place I notice this happening is in Frontlines Secure mode at a few of the flag locations.

Nope. First time ever and I've been playing since ARR launched.

Any changes or updates that seem to coincide with the issue?

I am /pretty/ confident that the first time it happened, it was before Patch 4.31 but only 80%, it could have happened after. I don't remember exactly when we did the Extreme but it was no earlier than the first weekend of the month. I've done no hardware updates at all for about a couple months.

Is there any pattern you notice?

Just that it's happened both times during duties.

Are your using any speakers that have drivers? If so, check to see if they are up to date.

Using a headset connected with standard jacks, doesn't have specific drivers to my knowledge though my sound card is up to date.

Can you submit a FFXIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

The issue is well known and many of us suffer from it including me.
SE never acknowledged their fault at this.
The issue lies within the game's audio engine which breaks far too easily.
For this to resolve an audio engine update is required. Something that SE doesn't want to do.
I also reported the issue here and nothing happened.
I got the same issue with 2 different PCs over the years.

If you do run into the issue again, you may want to try some of the following:

1) Try disabling all other audio devices in the Playback Devices from the System Tray. Also try not to have any other audio devices plugged in if you can help it.

2) Try doing a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
