Rio special room rate sold out before Fan Fest tickets went on sale??

When we were waiting for the Fan Fest tickets to go on sale, we checked the Rio and it said that the special room rate for Fan Fest attendees had already sold out. Can you get more discounted rooms added? This has not been a good experience so far, with most of my friends unable to get tickets, and now I'm going to have to pay through the nose for a hotel room.

I guarantee you that some of those people who reserved rooms didn't get tickets. Keep an eye on room availability over the next few days.

You can also get damn good rates at other hotels in Vegas if you look around. My bf and I found an amazing room at the Luxor for like $110 per night, and the cheapest was $70-something. Different resorts have sales and stuff.

LOL those rooms sold out the day they were announced too.

I didn't get a ticket, but the group I was planning to go with did manage to get theirs, so at least their room reservation won't go to waste.

The sale of rooms took place much earlier than tickets did. People did what they always do, they book in advance. Since some were not able to get tickets there is a chance if enough people cancel more may open up.

Rooms are popping up on the site now. Also fair warning that they are way more expensive than the other ones listed in the area too. "Special Rates" my ass.

Lots of people are calling to cancel their reservations, and they're saying that the booking sites and hotels they're talking to are worried because they're getting a lot of cancellations for the same date.

I called after the whole fiasco of the tickets ended. The lady who answered told me they were booked solid, few seconds later a room opened up. She was wondering what was going on and told her of the situation. She couldn't believe people were buying the room prior to the ticket sale. I can understand wanting the rooms in advance, but this is ridiculous. I just hope people who cancel get their whole money back. I know when I called, I was charged a deposit fee for the first night, which I don't mind. Booking fees and reservations do that.

Pro travellers tip: if you book any hotel in advance always ask the cancellation policy. If you book with a 3rd party website you mostly don’t get a cancellation option.

If you book on the hotels end and ask if you don't get tickets for even if you can cancel they normally would issue a refund if it's same day tickets went on sale. Friend did that, did not get tickets and got a refund. However calling the next day you can book online if rooms available.
