Character Creation Has A Race Problem

You can already play as characters with dark skin with any race in this game. You can already style a character to have distinct African features with certain races. How exactly are PoCs not being represented?

There isn't a whole lot of options for other races outside of Midlanders. The most I could do with miq'ote is maybe a rounde, but slightly flatter nose or a different chin. As for hairstyles, it's kinda embarrassing that there isn't much beyond dreads and the obviously jokey afro. You can't really do a whole lot.

Playing around a bit, Roegadyns have some okay options. Still a little sparce, but nice.

Answer the question, though: how much is enough? When will people be satisfied with the level of representation? I mean, there are already people okay with just being able to have darker skin, if we want to work our way back up this "slippery slope."

Maybe more than a just a face/hair few options to make something closer to what people might want? Just spitballing here. Not like this hasn't been explained ad nauseam throughout this thread.

I don’t see why real life racial issues need to be brought into a game? How about base your characters on actual game lore instead of screaming about race? Hylander hyur is ala mhigan there for look at how highlander hyurs look based on lore it fits, midlander hyurs, same. Both aura tribes same thing. List goes on and on. It’s fantasy, with made up lore! I mean I play a toon with a more tan complection because I like how it looks not because it matches my IRL genetics. Your toon is not you it’s a made up character in a made up world with LIMITED character selection.

How much is "more than just a few"? Do they need an entire catalogue of PoC-approved hairstyles? Jawlines? Eye shapes? What about the people who will turn around and cry that their attempts to represent PoC are, themselves, racist because they don't get every last nuance of how a black face is *supposed* to be shaped with their limited pixel art?

I wanna know what they're gonna look like! They're the only race that will make me jump the goddess ship and I HOPE they're amazons that compare to the Fem Roe in height...


I don't really feel like getting into the RW race stuff here cause this is a Jpn company and we know they don't GAF.

What I WOULD like to encourage is discussions on types of hair styles that would benefit everyone who uses the CC. Cause the CC is limited ... that's a fact, it's limiting as heck and the least they can do is be more free with the hair styles.

(On a side note the Afro option is only a joke style because of a few things. 1- It's texture is so flat and noticeable. 2- It's the old 70s "prefect ball" style cut and yet they made it so that it noticeable jiggles a ton. There's tons of ways to depict a fine looking fro, so i hope we get more in the future)

Anyway, styles I'd like to see added for the hair...
