Character Creation Has A Race Problem

Western media is consumed on a global scale. 1 in 5 people in the US are non-white. Up to half the population of major cities like London and New York are non-white, and in some cases white is no longer even the majority. Multi-culturalism is growing rapidly. "But there's more white people" is an incredibly old and weak excuse used to cover the heavy bias towards white people that still exists, despite there being no shortage of other races in the industry or in the audience.

No, it's not a case of apathy "because everything is racist/ sexist" lol. It's because while people are fine saying that slurs and harassment are wrong, they don't like having it pointed out to them that they have benefited from a system that excludes or discriminates against other ethnicities and become incredibly defensive. This thread is a perfect example.

Have you glanced at any statistics lately? New York's white demographic is comprised of 70% while London is 60%. That remains a significant majority. Even by your own admission, 20% is a distinct minority, which only adds credence to my argument. When you have such enormous discrepancies like this, you will always get a majority leaning. Just because Western media is consumed on a global scale does not mean there will be equal representation across the board. It's statistically impossible without artificially influence because they simply have a smaller pool to pull from. Unfortunately, multi-culturalism isn't growing, at least not in North America, especially when we have nonsense like "cultural appropriation" because a sixteen year old American girl wore a Chinese dress to her prom.

Nah, this thread was boinked from the beginning, there really wasn't anything TO fix.

Race IS part of the topic since it's included in the title so people are discussing that. We all agree about more customization options, but not about WHY they should be implemented.

Of course race is part of the thread, but the bickering over the nonsense was not needed which is why I made my comment. It is very possible to have a civil conversation regarding sensitive topics, all whilst remaining on topic - even with people with whom you disagree. People should try harder.
