Character Creation Has A Race Problem

I don't think that it's an important point to improve in this game right now... specially after stormblood, as happened with heavensward, has a serious lack of content for all players (i mean all levels of skill). Square-Enix should put their resources on bring 8 raid bosses per tier, bring more dungeons like 2.X (3 per patch), 2 deep dungeons per expansion with 100 floors each one (damn it... it's so cheap to add it...). And forget to trying to spend more and more and more and more resources, on glamour features, gpose features, character edition features..... It seems that most of the money for this game is going to Glam, Housing, RP and ERP stuff. Pls I want to play i want a reason to keep playing the game more and more and more cause i love it.

But it does matter, lmao. If I mentioned a Hyur, why would people be bringing up every other race, but? That showcases an inability to stay on topic. If my gripe was with the others, I would have mentioned the others. This doesn't have to be the Sims. Division, Guild Wars, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, etc all have sense enough to be inclusive as they are aware of their audience...

I don't think you're coming at this from the angle to which I am opposed and maybe we got off on the wrong foot.

I don't think additional character creation options are stupid I think saying they should be there because those options exist in humans is stupid. Most races have 4 preset faces and slender builds, do you really think that the entire wealth of human diversity can be expressed by such a character creation engine?

My issue is with many posters in this thread seeming to feel entitled that their specific skin tone or the skin tone they desire is not available, as if Hyur need every possible skin tone that exists in humanity. They have further gone on to imply that SE is somehow being "racially insensitive" by lacking these options in a fantasy videogame.

I maintain that Hyur are not humans. Humans can't do magic for starters. We don't live in Eorzea. We aren't all shaped the same. There are tons of differences between Hyur and humamity. Some Hyur look like some humans but most humans don't resemble Hyur.

If you just want some more character creation options by all means make your own thread and I will support it 100%. If you want to attempt to guilt SE into including racially specific character creation options with bait titles about "race problems" though.... no, I will call out how wrong that is every time.

While I dislike using "likes" as an agreement ratio, we needs only look towards the sheer number on responses disagreeing with you. If you had the high ground, this wouldn't be such a one-sided argument. Fortunately, you can prove us all wrong by simply providing some evidence; cite sources of widespread complaints or anger over the perceived racial bias or "white washing" as I recall you mention previously. And before you claim I offer evidence there isn't any. The onus is on you to prove such a problem exists not that I disprove a theory.

Stormblood's msq has plenty of problems, Lyse's skin color is not one of them. There are also plenty of skin colors and hairstyles available, the game doesn't need to, and can't realistically, cater to every single real life culture in terms of hairstyles.

Screw this thread title, screw the complaint. We all got complaints but its fictional races. They don't need *any* traits from anything. They could have us play as Ronso and im sure people would cry up a storm. Make whatever you want. Genes are a thing and no two people are ever alike BUT SINCE we HAVE TO BRING RL races into this.

Like a great many others have said, had you asked for say more skin colour options for the various races (to balance out dark + light skin tones), I would have backed you 100%. As for the Hyur, I believe the Highlanders have more dark skin options and midlanders have more light skin options. Could be wrong on that though. But either way, balancing them out is something I can get behind. However, saying character creation has a race problem as your title makes it come across as about race.

So, I can back the idea behind it (increasing customisation options), but I can't back the reasoning you gave due to how it has unfolded. Sorry.

I know I said I was done with this thread, but why is race war becoming a buzz word here? This thread is less a debate and more a heated war of words over something that, in my opinion, was already silly to begin with.

Some people want more options for fun. Some people want more options because "I dont see enough 'x'" in this game, and that is unacceptable." Both want the same thing, but its the reasoning behind it that differs. And there in lies the whole world of difference
