I have to say, it bothers me a bit that as soon as the pointless off-topic race war stuff ended, nobody really posts here anymore and the thread reaches page 2.
Feels like no one was here to actually discuss the real topic...

What's there to discuss, exactly?
"Yeah, they probably should prioritize expanding the character customization options, and I agree it'd be great if among those options were some that don't conform to the traditionally caucasian/asian standard of beauty, such as wider noses and thicker lips. It's a shame the dev team keeps kicking the can down the road when it comes to this incredibly often-requested feature."
That's...kinda all you can really add to the topic outside of the weird antagonistic presentation.
Visual examples? Granted I haven't done it but that's because I haven't been able to get online..What's there to discuss, exactly?

I can only speak for myself but personally my take on the proposed changes can be summerized by "additional character customization is a plus as long as it works within established lore and does not detract from additional new content."
I feel like the reason this thread died is becauae most of the attention it recieved from the beginning was centered around an objection to the idea that, as the title said, character creation has a race problem.
I understand and respect that you were here for a discussion of additional skin tones, hairstyles and facial features but I can say I posted here specifically to oppose this SJW mentality that this game somehow needs to include every irl culture and race or it has a "character creation problem" and once it became clear people would not actually discuss my issues with this I lost most of my interest in the thread.
Hope this helps in clearing up your confusion in the lack of attention the thread has recieved o/
I would guess that it's because a lot of people feel that's not not necessarily a race issue, but rather an issue of the lacking character creator itself, and that horss has been beaten for years.
I'm really not sure what correlation you were trying to make between this topic and Viera. I don't want to think of what you were attempting to link there...
But anyways, there's really not much to discuss, once all the antagonism has faded. Devs have gone on record multiple times saying that it's not going to happen with the current engine - and likely throughout the life of FFXIV unless they can figure out some workarounds. It would be nice to have additional options, but as it stands right now, until the devs can figure something out, this is just another horse, sadly. Who knows, maybe tomorrow's Live Letter will address it in some fashion. Doubtful, as Monster Hunter is likely going to be a main topic...but who knows.
It's alot less scary than you're probably imagining I assure you. I brought up the Viera thread because you mentioned the topic of character creation being a horse that has been beaten for years and that might be why people aren't talking. I just compared it to the Viera topic which is a horse that has been extra, extra beaten but still has 205 pages.
