I was harassed in a savage party

First off I want to say that I have began pugging savage again now. I had to leave my static for work reasons and I cannot commit myself to night raiding this summer as much as I love it. I have many clears O5S-O8S as of a long time now but I am now pugging and what I have witnessed is unfair to me and just disrespectful. So I join this 2 chest O7S party CCW vert easy really standard stuff. The party leader puts markers up for ink positions. I happened to stand at S first I'm an Astrologian and the WHM asks kindly for the South spot. I was okay with it but I had NO experience using the North side. I said okay but dont blame me if I screw up now since you're asking me to use different positions i'm not used to. We pull, we get around 35% and then wipe because people hit missles. Okay that's all fine and dandy. Next pull I die to a missle at north position and I was ashamed of myself. I get rezzed, and the healing just goes very badly. I'm blamed for my death despite my earlier assessment that I might screw up. Okay so next two pulls were nightmarish. We got to post virus again and ink was being loaded. I was south because I'm used to it then ran north and clipped somebody apparently. I then told them can I please have the south position because this is not looking great on my end and I dont want to hold you guys back. The response: My friends have been killed by you what the fuck are you doing, you didnt even make Biblio at one point. Did you buy your clears? My response was incredibly gentle in which I said I willingly took North for you guys because of your healer friend saying he was only good at south like me. Why do I take full blame when I gave up my position? All they said in response was Sorry to all their friends that a horrible person killed them and that I hope I enjoy buying more clears.

Excuse me? After me being all nice that's what I get? Funnily enough I was at south position next party with a whm enrage bonus and we one shot it. People in this game are incredibly rude and I'm very dissatisfied with what I experienced. I was kicked and harassed by the party like I'm some kind of villain when all I was doing was being nice. And no, I didnt buy any of my clears one bit, in fact I cleared Guardian and God kefka plus this entire tier in PUGS.

You have my respect for clearing Godka in PUGs.

I'm honestly beginning to question whether I should bother trying to: it's not fun, and it feels incredibly depressing to join parties that are for practicing godka, when they can't even make it past clown enrage (Made it to third forsaken, personally).

When I'm in a position for O7S I'm not used to, I make 100% sure everyone knows it's under protest, and will blame that on any troubles caused by it. But I'm also not the sort to call out people for trouble in the raid, I just shrug and hope we still make the enrage.

I dont know how bad it is in this game since i am not that far, but pugging hardest content in another MMOs was not worth it at all. It usually is that depressing that the good accomplishment feeling is way overshadowed.

Sorry to say but that's not harassment, that's just people being douchebags. Harassment would be if they were constantly messaging you even after the run, following you, etc.

I'm going to agree with this.
It's not a static, you won't have a static position. Muscle memory isn't the best for things like this since fluidity is much more important.
Yeah they shouldn't have been THAT rude about it, but expecting someone to be able to go to their position, even if it's not what they normally do, is normal.

That being said, I did some savage as a dps last night and BOY was I embarrassed. Nobody is perfect. We still got through it but it wasn't anything I want on my record lol.
Nobody said much about it. Though by o7s thankfully they let me swap to tank which I'm used to. The rudeness you encountered is very rare I've found. You even have Besame up there posting about he'll never run Savage because of this, even though it's hard to ever find it. Which is a real shame, people are afraid to play.

While their behavior were bad, you are expected and supposed to be able to adapt your position. Yes, habits runs our brain and might confuses us sometimes, but this is something to should be able to do.

I agree with other people, this was not harassment, but just people being rude/douchey. It is just as douchey to throw the word harassment around loosely like a lot of people are doing in this game now.

This sounds like another Tale of the Duty Finder (party finder?) Story. I have runs like this all the time. When you use PF you are exposed to a wide variety of players on all levels of the spectrum, I've encountered:

- A guy who told us he had never run O7S the moment we pulled in our enrage party.
- An arguement about positions that led to a disband before our first pull.
- Elitist jerks who want to dictate the party despite not being lead
- players who won't listen to advice when they are the reason we are wiping. Saying to the NIN "Please use trick attack here because you aren't lining up with everyone's burst/dots" isn't harassment and you should be expected to try to improve.

And my personal favourite:

- Mr silent who doesn't listen to anything the party is saying and gives no input whatsoever and lives in their own bubble.



So yeah, I'm sorry you had a bad party OP, but welcome to the wonderful world of sharing a game with anonymous strangers.
