Boarskin Maps

So I've been running Boarskin Maps somewhat regularly since I came back to this game late last year searching for the ever elusive Tonberry minion. I have a few questions in regards to the map contents I've been getting.

1: Is the quality of what is received from the map determined by the location the map was found?

2: Have they changed what drops from the map in any way? I've noticed that most of the maps I've run recently have gone from kinda "meh" to completely "bleh" in terms of items received. I used to regularly get stuff like Blue Fox Hides, Mariner Cotton Cloth and Belah'dian Silver. Now I'm lucky if I manage an Aetherial Thingamajig.

3: Is the Tonberry minion even found from Boarskin Maps or am I just wasting my time?

Bonus unrelated question so I don't have to start a new post to ask: Why can't I plant Trillium Bulbs in my garden?

2.) Officially no, though when the Moonfire stuff came out and I was trying to get cloths, I never got any. It's been ages since I got a good ARR map drop, and while I don't do them like I used to because of the Voidrake trade-ins making them much less valuable, something does seem off.

4.) They're a whole separate crafting material found on a different node than trillium and used for other things. Though yes, it is weird.

You can just buy the tonberry minion off the MB if it's giving you that much trouble. Sell the Boarskin maps (or a better map), use the gil to buy the minion. It's only 80k on my server, with boarskin maps selling for 32k. And Trilium Bulbs are just a gathering mat that sounds like a gardening item. Only seeds (which will be classified as a Gardening item for its type) can be planted.

The minion goes for 99k to 300k on my server. I don't feel like it's trouble farming for it, I actually find it enjoyable wondering when that ONE chest will appear and make my day. As for the Trillium Bulb, I only ask because in the description it says something like: "when planted with affection will grow into a beautiful Trillium Flower"

Tonberry does come from boarskin maps. The location of the map has nothing to do with the rewards. It's all RNGesus. You may want to try your luck at sacks from PoTD they also reward minions. However, RNGesus is RNGesus. It cometh and goeth.

1: OK, I just thought that because certain ones seemed to send me to the same areas with the same less than mediocre drops while some from other areas netted me some fairly decent drops. Maybe it just seemed that way because of how irregularly I run maps.

2: I was having that problem when I wanted to craft the Sailor set for one of my alts. I had to laugh because the cloth was going for more than twice the actual crafted item's price on the MB.

4: I figured as much. Just thought I'd ask because of the description on the Bulbs.
