    There's actually something in this game which I'm going to call the Torbjorn problem, from the character at overwatch. The problem is that they balance the game to be ideal at savage, but increasingly in non-savage contents there are a pretty big gap between certain jobs. Just like how torb was meh at high level play but dominant at low levels.

    Like Red Mage, which is balanced or at a low level in savage, is literally the number one job to do anything but. It's absurdly overpowered in HoH, was the number one job in Eureka, and is an all around safe job to play. Or like bard or mch in pvp. However many melee jobs kind of suffer in content, or differences become known; DRK in HoH struggles a lot since it doesn't have a native stun or decent self heal compared to pld.

    It's not a solvable problem, but it does get annoying. Like right now in HoH its dominated by ranged jobs, since almost all ranged can put up strong burst and pull safely, and melee offers no real advantage in there.

    Melee jobs are very strong when in a party. They bring a stun which is essential for higher level floors. In my experience the best comp is WAR/WHM/SAM/RDM, but that might be because I only run the late floors with my main job. I've honestly had zero issue playing a melee job in HoH.

    Pacify really shouldn't be a problem with a healer in your party. You're going to be wall running 99% of the time on the floors where pacify even matters.

    It's based on a genre of game called "roguelike" which have similar mechanics. Randomly generated dungeons and permadeath which is what the 1 life thing is trying to do.

    Not that I agree with it (being solo and disconnecting/losing your progress is dumb) but if they allowed you to just start at 71 you wouldn't be as cautious since the stakes would be much lower. Getting there is pretty much a faceroll for parties but it is pretty tough for solo/duo.
