    There's a reason why NA tend to do it all in one sitting, and that's due to those factors. Not everyone likes them, which is why pf and df exist. HoH removes that more or less entirely for the challenge floors, and previously potd kind of suffered because of it
    There have been instances of one sitting runs and divided runs that work out fine. That's what I've been trying to to tell you. But, again, you don't actually read what I write because it doesn't fit the way you want things to be. And are you sure this is an NA-exclusive thing? Any proof that this isn't also done on JP servers? Or EU servers?

    Basically what you want is to be able to pug the higher floors at your leisure. Sorry, but that's not the way the content is designed. From the shenanigans I see happening on floors 21-30, I wouldn't want my floors 91-100 reliant on 3 other random people that use pomanders willy-nilly, or don't bother to use them when a situation is dire. Or get a party that's 4 DPS with no tank or healer. That's a recipe for disaster up on those floors.

    To make them puggable, you would basically have to remove the challenge from them entirety: paper mobs that can be downed in 10 seconds with zero threatening mechanics to them, and each set of floors plus the boss takes 30 minutes or less. Which would defeat the entire purpose of those floors. They aren't made to be puggable in the sense of random matches parties. They're made for premades where communication is used and needed.

    If you want to do them so badly, rise to the challenge. Plenty others have done it.


    As for your IRL time constraints: I cleared PotD Floor 200 working a full-time job that never had the same schedule each week, and I very rarely had weekends off. I still made it work with friends a couple of hours each night for 3 to 4 nights until we cleared. It wasn't hard or stressful or annoying. Go with people you can trust and rely on, or start networking to find those types of people. You like to bring up FFXI, well networking and forming parties was core to that game. So do it in FFXIV as well. It's not difficult.

    If you read her comment, she's already talking about the part of the community that does Savage content. Not everyone in there wants a static, but that also means that not everyone finds statics and their scheduling "unfun and annoying", since, naturally, the ones that have statics with schedules wouldn't be doing them if they found them "unfun and annoying".

    My point still stands: this content is designed a certain way, and people either rise to its challenge and do it the way it was intended (i.e., premades for the challenge floors starting at either floor 1 or floor 21), be it in a single day or over multiple days, or don't do it at all. If you want to do the challenge floors, put forth the time and effort needed for them.

    See? I can make lots of things in this game sound horrid, but people still enjoy them. Some even dedicate their entire playtime to it.

    I would argue that the content SE has been putting out is in fact underwhelming. What ever happened the "never seen before in an MMO" content

    Wasn't one of those instances a mistranslation, and he said "in OUR MMO"?

    As for the main topic of time investment, meh, it's like any other content that requires that sort of thing. My FC's XIV time on Sunday was converted to tabletop, and yeah, sometimes we postpone because people can't make it. But them's the breaks. Same with this. You know it's going to be Fixed-party exclusive, so you plan ahead. When we were running PotD, we'd do it one floor set at a time, maybe two, just because it wore us out that much, and we continued the next week. If anything, making the tiers longer will scare a lot more people away and will be all the more punishing. Now a death means you lost up to 29 floors of progress and Hoards instead of up to 9.

    I've already decided to unsub after the next Eureka zone until pre- next xpac. I've come to realize the only thing I like in this MMO is the MSQ, and there is no need to be subbed for 2 years to experience that.

    That was the Role play actions at the end of the story, but they suddenly changed their tone from "never seen before in an MMO" to "never seen before in FF14". I really wont trust any of such statements anymore..they are just overhyping stuff in 99% of the cases..

    On topic: It would have already solved quite the problems if they had made 50 floors casual and 50 floors hardcore and let people simply start at 51 as soon as you beat 50 once. If they raise the difficulty at least a bit thanks to that, I would be fine with that because even with complete strangers and missmanagement, no real talk about the usage of stuff and more, we still managed to get to 81.

    A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
