Question about transferring to crowded worlds.

Hello!

I play on Tonberry which is classified as a standard world and I've been hoping to transfer to Gungnir. For a few months now it's been closed despite it seemingly having less players than Tonberry from what I've seen and heard from my friends. I know they open them up again when the ammount of players reaches a suitable level, but when exactly do they open? I assume they open after a maintenance, but since there was nothing this most recent patch, I'm getting worried it may never open!

The status of Congested/Standard/Preferred servers change when SE thinks it is time for them to change - exactly what criteria is used is unknown. It is not directly connected to any maintenance or updates of the game.
So far every time the status has changed it has happened on a Tuesday - just like most maintenances.

Servers can be closed for a short time or for a very long time. One extreme is Balmung which has been a Congested server for over a year, except for a few weeks back in February. Others have been closed for much shorter times.


In short - it will open again eventually, but no way of knowing when.
