    Confused on buying the level boost and job boost not sure

    So I have a level 7 archer and wanted to boost her to 60 but I don’t see one for archers and don’t want to buy the wrong one can some one explain to me what all the different boost are and what they mean and guide me on which one I should buy if I am going to do it. Just really confusing all of it any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance. Because I know there is a char boost and a job boost and a story line boost and I’m just really confused.

    Archers are baby bards. Normally, you would do an ARC quest every 5 levels until 30, then you would do the quest to unlock BRD and continue as a BRD from then on. The job boost lets you just skip straight to BRD60 without having to do all that.

    If you get just the job boost, you will be Lv60 but you will still have to do all the main story quests from 1 to 60, as main story is independent of job. The story boost will let you skip either just ARR (1-50 MSQ) or ARR+HW (1-60 MSQ). If you got only the story boost, you would still have to level something to 60 to continue the story.

    Are you trying to get to Stormblood content ASAP? Then do a job boost and a story boost.
    Do you want to do the story, but don't want to level? Then get just a job boost.
    Do you not care about the story, but don't mind grinding out levels to get to 60? Get just a story boost.

    Archer upgrades to Bard. So you'd want to buy a Bard job boost (will raise you to level 60 and give you a set of gear).

    There are two story skip potions. One boosts you to the end of A Realm Reborn/beginning of Heavensward. The other skips you to the end of Heavensward/beginning of Stormblood.

    There are also retainer boost potions. Retainers are npcs you can hire after a certain point in the story for extra storage, listing things on the marker board, and sending on ventures. Normally you would level them from level 1 by sending them on ventures but the boost puts them at 60.
    I don't know if it gives them any gear or ignores the normal restriction of retainers not being able to exceed your own level in a job.

    One thing to keep in mind is everything in this game is gated by story progress. If you decide to buy a level boost by itself you will still need to play through all the A Realm Reborn and Heavensward story quests to reach level 60 content.

    Also if you care about the story, buying your job boost will mean you skip the job quests up to Lv60, but then the Lv60-70 job quests involve the same characters from the earlier quests. So you'd be missing out on being familiar with the characters, though it's not critical.

    I personally think it is best to get one character to 50 at least without a boost first. This is easiest as a healer or tank because you get instant dungeon queues. Then boost a DPS class to 60. However you will still need to complete the main story from where you left off.

    I would strongly advise this because you need to learn your class. Bard is especially a strange one because it is DPS, but also supports the party.

    And the game almost changes greatly after level 50. The amount and types of boss mechanics compared to the lower dungeons....

    However you will need the job boost, not the base class. For example an archer would use the Bard boost.

    Conjurer->White Mage
    Arcanist-> Scholar or Summoner
    Gladiator->Paladin
    Warrior->Marauder
    Thaumaturge-> Black Mage
    Archer->Bard
    Pugilist->Monk
    Rogue->Ninja
    Lancer->Dragoon

    Black Knight, Samurai, Red Mage, and Astrologian don't have the base classes.

    The Class Boost, Tales of Adventure, One Hero's Journey, levels one job to 60 and includes gear.
    The Story Boost: Tales of Adventure, ARR and Heavensward auto complete all the story up to whichever one you choose. The ARR reborn one brings you to Heavensward which starts at lvl 50. If you choose Heavensward it completes the story missions to level 60 and lets you begin with Stormblood.

    Alternately once you've got a class to Lv50, you can pick up both Samurai and Red Mage and instantly have two Lv50 DPS jobs, as they both start at that level. (I assume you need the Stormblood expansion installed to undertake the quests, but they're available as soon as you reach that level even if you're still in ARR's story.)
