    Can't register Stormblood key in mogstation

    My wife and I decided to get back into FFXIV due to the recent Steam sale having SB for half off. I upgrade my account without a problem, but when my wife goes to upgrade hers, Mogstation says its an invalid key.

    Both of our accounts were originally purchased through Steam. The only difference was I bought HW when it was the most recent xpac, while she never played HW. Everything I read says you can upgrade straight from ARR to SB, so I don't think that's the issue but what do I know? Anyone have any thoughts?

    I feel certain that Stormblood also includes keys for Heavensward, but I could be wrong. If your wife doesn't have Heavensward registered to her service account, she will be unable to register Stormblood as it requires HW. I'd confirm whether or not the expac you bought contains HW; if it doesn't, she will have to purchase HW as well.

    They do this because the expansions are linear in terms of the main scenario--SB requires HW completion, which requires ARR completion. So while you can upgrade from ARR to SB, you cannot do so directly, i.e., you cannot just skip HW. You have to have all three.

    So poking around a bit more, it looks like she doesn't have the Steam version of the game anymore. Originally it was purchased through Steam, but after several months of not playing she couldn't remember her password so we had to do a recovery. Took a couple of days, and had to send proof if ID to SE to get everything working again, but now in mogstation it shows that she has the standard windows version. I assumed something got messed up with the recovery so long ago. She got super mad, which made me mad, we got in a fight, and I guess now we're not going to be playing FFXIV anymore because she bought SB through Steam and when I offered to buy SB through mogstation, she said she doesn't want me to "waste more money on something that probably won't work anyway."

    My time in FFXIV was shorter than I would have liked, but oh well. I'll continue to recommend this game to anyone that asks about it. Good adventures, everyone.

    If she did not have the Steam version originally, then she would not be able to apply a Steam version of the expansion. They are not compatible unfortunately. As this is not a technical issue, you will need to contact the Support Center for further clarification.
