    Heaven on High: That's it?

Is that all it is, just a reskinned PotD with a couple new pommanders? I was hoping they would have more variety in the shapes of the rooms at the very least instead of the same sized square rooms.

Oh well, at least I have a quick leveling from 61 to 70.

    EDIT:

Wow, Go to sleep and the thread explodes! Only starting on the feedback so far but wanted to mention a couple things (and will update again later)

    1) First off, I have not even been able to play it yet (when I logged in it was not letting me queue up) so I'm kinda looking for more input beyond the patch notes and something more succinct than a 6 hour live stream, so Thanks to all you commenters!
    2) Good to know that it gets a little more varied after the story mode is done, how varied and how fresh it feels remains to be seen.
    3) I'm not surprised that its this way, not even really disappointed anymore. I think this game should be re-titled FFXIV: A Realm of Missed Potential
    4) This was actually a legit question, was that it. I only had patch notes to go on and i know there is more to things than what they put in the patch notes and doesnt capture how the content feels. Was looking for player input and I got it.

This was my response to the "what did you expect" question and those who feel I'm just complaining.

What I expected was a straight up reskin of PotD. What I hoped for was a more expanded system; Multiple ways to clear a floor, Larger maps with more varied room shapes, better procedural generation. So in the end, we have gotten more than what I expected but not quite what I hoped for which has been par for the course in this game. I'm not shocked or surprised with what we got nor am I disappointed, my OP was an honest question phrased in a challenge sort of way to illicit some player feedback.

At the time of my OP there was not any threads started with HoH as the subject (since its release) there were only patch notes, which are not usually a full representation of the content or how it feels, and when I logged into the game to try it for myself I guess it had been taken down for maintenance already. I have gained a bit of valuable insight to HoH because of this post, minus the trolls, that has helped a bit. Sounds like the Magicite system is the "FC summoning" idea they threw out there back in a 1.18 dev letter, not quite what I was hoping for yet again but at least its a full on summon. Also later floors do take on different room shapes so that is also a good thing.

All in all I'm ok with what we got, I will be using the heck out of this to level my other jobs and might even shoot for that floor 100. Hope that answers your question!
    UPDATE:

I was able to actually play it last night, only got to floor 20 so far though. I have to say its good, about as good as PotD with some minor improvements. Honestly my favorite aspect so far is the areas, while not not a huge fan of the Kugane aesthetic look I much prefer the clean design of the walls/floors/ceiling as opposed to the dank rock wall natural look that PotD had, especially for the transitional corridors. The Magecite is a nice touch, in some ways better than the Manticore thingy from PotD but in other ways its not as efficient. The Manticore could be used on specific enemies as you proceeded through whereas the Summon kills all on the floor then you need to rush through collecting everything before things start to respawn. I still think that should have been given to the summoners, not Deep Dungeon. I also like the one huge open room, i hope to see more variations on this different room design in the future. Take all the old assets from the 1.0 Black Shroud and make a two tiered proc-gen maze for the next DD. That would be crazy fun and the best way to convey the horrors of 1.0 in a manner that would still be fun today.

If you reach 41 to 50, the sight and Rooms change dramatically.

There's also some floors that's just one giant room.

Well they got the jumbo room that's the size of 12 rooms in a 4x3 rectangle, so you can pretty much see all the enemies when you stand in the middle.

There's also the magicite that can wipe out all enemies on the floor in one use, as well as dealing a huge chunk of damage to a boss. Plus the stronk levels of the enemies skyrocket really quickly.

Sprinkling bread crumbs over a period of time leaves everyone hungry. This is why I prefer how they gave us the entire update in one go in Heavensward. If we ate all the food we had no one to blame but ourselves and at least people would stay around for longer.

Currently these sprinkles mean that people clear the content the first or second week then quit.

It's why the start of stormblood (expansion) was so great, we had so much to do because it was all there, it wasn't sprinkles months later.

I know people higher than Yoshida are telling him that the only way to keep subscriptions is to make them sub again for the .35 or the .50 updates but that's at the expense of a community that's actually having fun. People will eventually grow tired and frustrated, they will wake up.

I haven't tried it. And I do not expect much of it. So my I shouldn't be disappointed. But will be surprised if I like it. I wasn't a fan of deep dungeon thus far.

You can get a MASSIVE sum of EXP for leveling alt combat classes there. Plus now you can jump right into doing floors 21-30 after you've cleared it once, so you don't need to farm the junk floors.

It's not massive by any stretch. It was like, 1.5m exp at level 61. You'd need to run it 4 times to level. It's about the same scale PotD is.

I'm not really disappointed in this content, but it doesn't seem like it was intended to do anything new or challenging. Bombs are still there, mimics (new name) are still there. It's not really going to be something people are going to want to grind on.

Like, I've said it before. This content is passable as "catch up" content for leveling, but teaches the player absolutely nothing, and encourages zerg gameplay that isn't applicable to any other content in the game. There is no strategy involved for anything in it, just like no strategy for PotD.

I'm always amazed at people who say things like this.
    They are so totally surprised.

Well if anybody is wondering the 151-200 difficulty starts at 61 died at the 70 boss solo trying to figure out its mechs. Did figure it out but going to have to climb back up there again. Disappointed cause once again its looking like rdm is most likely the only class that is going to be capable of soloing.
