Forum post character limit increased

Has this actually been changed, or is it just for general discussion? After reading this post I've hit the 1k character limit twice in two different threads both times being under 2k characters.

I just hit the 1,000 character limit in a thread in the General Discussion sub-forum with a post of 1,088 characters. Has this actually been increased?
