It's as if they are still unaware it can be bypassed by editing. But hey, less editing at least, most posts wont hit 3000.
The default setting on vB is 60,000 tho, which cannot be bypassed.

Question : Why just not... going to a REAL coherent limit? . . . no because ok its cool, 3k instead of 1k but why not going to atleast 20k or 50k? ...
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Because we'd have no patience with a single post that takes 10-15 minutes to read?
Because typing 5-10 thousand words 'just to make a point' might be seen as overkill?
Because we really don't want to read an in-depth 'rant' that is that long?
Speak for yourself. I for one like reading and writing posts that aren't so short and devoid of detail that it may as well be a shorthand text message. Larger limits allow for more detail and nuance on a subject that probably needs more than three sentences to discuss. And as people have figured out how to bypass the original 1k limit anyway (and that SE clearly doesn't care) there doesn't seem to be any real reason to have a limit at all or at least not one so small. A larger limit also reduces spam too since the people who aren't aware of the bypass technique usually wind up making a chain of posts anyway.
So I for one am glad that the limit has been increased, even though I wish it were higher or gone completely. Most of my longer posts don't usually exceed 2k characters anyway.
Side note, it would be nice if SE added a character counter so I don't have to attempt previewing or posting just to find out I'm only a few characters over the limit, which has ironically happened with this very response.
Side sidenotequestion: Is this change live yet? Do I need to clear cookies? Because not counting this paragraph here, this post is well under 2000 characters and the forums are still preventing me from submitting it normally.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Ah. That’s pretty neat!

This is a terrible argument.
When I went to school, this has been considered normal. To backup a statement so much that you do not have play "argument volleyball" back and forth just because everyone can't be bothered to read more than two lines.
But eh, the educational systems worldwide seem to have changed and fit the short attention span of the Millenials.. That watch Netflix series with 1.5x speed while playing video games during their chat on the phone...
I can assure you that if you don't succinctly explain your argument in the first 200 words or so, it will get ignored or misinterpreted. Key word: 'succinct'.This is a terrible argument.

... attention span of the Millenials..
Both of my sons are millenials. In your post, you failed the argument as soon as you ran to stereotype. Your argument reads better when it ends with "than two lines".
I can't wait to be an old grouch like you and blame everything on the younger generation's shortcomings...This is a terrible argument.

That watch Netflix series with 1.5x speed while playing video games during their chat on the phone...Even back in your youth there were plenty of people who didn't have the time or inclination to read walls of text, especially if it held little of value. And wouldn't you know, being succinct and saying exactly what's needed without any fluff is the cornerstone to making an effective argument, no matter what the topic is! I'm pretty sure you were taught that back in the day when you had to walk up hill both ways in the snow with a baby strapped to your back just to get to/from school, right? Or were you too busy pulling yourself up by your bootstraps to pay attention in class?
Yay to increase, boo to it not being retroactively applied. Wistful suggestion: can replies that quote text have the quoted sections not count towards the character limit? That's often how I end up going over.
When you went to school....? I mean, I'm 30 years old and playing XIV and considered a Millennial. You must be like....40-60...at least, closer towards that age range to be considered NOT a millennial in which case, what does that even matter? This is a terrible argument.

The people who blame all of their problems or pet peeves on another age group act JUST like some of the people that they so despise from another age grouping.
There's also nothing wrong with multi-tasking if it can be done right either.
