Just attempted to post in an existing thread and create a brand new one, both were met with the same 1,000 character limit error. Has this change not yet gone live?
Eh...better than nothing I guess. Though we can still edit to increase it further, they seem oblivious to that still. Just remove the damn character limit entirely. It's plain stupid in this day and age on a forum for a video game. But this is progress I guess so.....yay?

Still getting hit with 1k limits. Would be nice if we could hear back on why this is happening......

Maybe they're looking into it and just not saying anything until they get it fixed correctly? A quick "Oops, looks like it didn't take but we're digging through to find out. It may take a few days but it's still our intentions to have the limit at X!" would go a long way vs dropping off the initial message and then dead silence when it was brought up that it's not working.
Bringing this back up in hopes that the mods are paying attention to this. A lot of us are wondering how and if the changes were implemented, and if they weren't, when are they going to be implemented. Many of us do understand that there are a lot of things that we don't see here in the forums, but some communication on this would be nice as a faith of goodwill between us players and the community managers. Even if the edits weren't implemented, that would be better than no news at all. Humbly requesting that the mods let us know up front if the changes were implemented as stated in the OP, or if we'll have to wait a while longer for them.
This post is a week old and there is still the old limit. Cant we get at least some information about what happened? Is the code that badly that even an increase gives such problems?
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Bumping this one last time. In the overall scope of things, the forum character limit is a minor thing...but minor things like this build up trust between the CM and the player base here on the forums. And given how often players are redirected to the forums by GMs, I'd say that a healthy relationship between the community and the game moderators/community managers are pretty important. Compared to things like the bots, the RMTs, the bugs in the game, etc., a character limit increase is pretty small. But with the lack of communication, it adds up - if we cannot get an answer on something minor like this, from a post that a CM started, that just contributes even further to a wall that is hard to get through. So, CMs, I'm sure that you guys have a litany of things going on behind the scenes that you cannot even see. But in light of the original post, either it feels like you've pulled all of our legs, or something happened behind the scenes in which the limit cannot be increased. Again, yes it's a minor thing - but the lack of changes that were promised and the complete silence on your ends erodes that goodwill that we have.
Any kind of answer will do - even if it's not the one we want to hear. We just want to know what the deal is. Why post a change, and nothing happened? At this point, many of us have likely moved on - but the next change that is posted by a CM about something here is also likely to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of us just want to know, officially, if the change has happened in some capacity, and if it hasn't, when can we expect the change. Thanks.
I'd like to touch back on this and say, it seems like the limit has now been increased. I posted something earlier and it told me I was over the 3k limit and I posted other things that I'm sure were over 1k.
So that's great but definitely in the future, I think there needs to be more communication in situations like these. We were left for over a week with no word. Handled very poorly, in my opinion. Just a quick word would mean a lot, even if it's just to say "We're not sure why this is happening but we are looking into it." would be very much appreciated.
