What exactly does end game have to offer?

I am 5 levels away from 70. This is truly the first time in my life that I will officially hit max level on any MMORPG. But I'm worried...

I play as a monk with my main and I love it. Once I reach level 70, then what do I do? What incentive would I have for running dungeons if I won't get any experience points anymore?

    Thanks.

Gearing, in dungeons at max level you'll get tomestones you can trade in for gear or use the dungeons themselves to help get gear. Once you hit max level what you do is ultimately up to you.

You can run extreme primals for mounts/rewards join a raiding static get into crafting and/or gathering or level some other jobs. Best to talk with some FC mates and see what they would recommend or if they have a spot for you in some future content runs.

There is the Ivalice 24 player raids.
    There is Deltascape and Sigmascape
    There is Eureka
    There is Treasure maps/Lost Canals
    There is Expert roulette
There are beast tribes you can do.
Ooor you can level another job, try crafting/gathering, buy a room and get into furnishing.
Even though you hit lvl 70 there is still a bit of MSQ left after the expansion. : )

Your growth in the game doesn't stop when you hit an exp cap. Not even close. Hitting max level by itself gives you the incentive to gear up, and to do the content associated with providing you the means to do so. If you rushed your way to 70, you also very likely missed half of the game's mechanics in battle, and when the challenging stuff comes around that reuses them, you might be at a bit of a disadvantage compared to other players who are more readily practiced.

Put quite simply, there is experience in the game that isn't measured with accumulated points or levels. In your position and my mindset, what I would do is actually run every single instance in the game that I have not cleared. I can get to max level easily without touching 70-80% of the game's content, especially after getting there the first time.

If you wanna git gud, then you must always strive to surpass your own limits. If there is an instance that kicks your ass, then you get back on the saddle and head right back in. And as someone striving to get better, you look for that instance that kicks your ass. That is your hurdle to jump.

It can vary. There's either a lot to do, or very little. It all really depends on what you find fun and motivating to do once you hit 70. There are plenty of options once you do hit 70 on your main though. As noted above, it all depends on what you find interesting. The main motivation for dungeons at 70 are usually either for tomestones, Wondrous Tales, and alt job leveling, followed pretty closely by helping other players. The great thing about this community is that there are a lot of players who do all kinds of things, so for the most part, you'll usually be able to ask for advice/help on whatever it is you want to do at max level. Just keep in mind that you still have about 3 more patches of story to go through after you complete 4.0.

It definitely depends on what part of endgame you are looking at right now.

As you get to 70 you'll have some more main story to do first that will unlock some additional dungeons and trials. Some quests will split off from the main story that will unlock other dungeons and trials as well. Each level 70 primal (as well as the primals you fight during the main story to get to 70) have EX versions that drop unique items, equipment and mounts.

Everything you do at level 70 will give you two kinds of Tomestones that are tradable for major gear upgrades. To give some perspective your level 70 job quest will give you some i290 gear but with Tomestones of Mendacity you can purchase i360 gear that is upgradable to i370 which is the same item level as the Savage raid gear.

There are normal and Savage raids to unlock. The normal raids are very accessible and drop tokens for i350 gear which is a good stepping stone set. Savage takes a fair bit more commitment but if you put in the time it can be really rewarding.

The game kind of guides you through the gear progression to an extent by putting ilvl locks on certain content. It starts with some dungeons requiring a bit higher of an ilvl all the way on up to the most current extreme primal thar requires i355 if I remember correctly.

The easiest way to gear up for someone who is fresh to level 70 would be to gather Tomestones of Creation. There is no cap to how many you can earn and you can hold up to 2k at a time. They're tradable for i330 gear which you can use to boost yourself into some of the higher ilvl requirements quickly.

The simplest progression in my opinion would be to gather Creation for i330 gear while passively gearing via dungeon drops as you go then using that gear to enter Sigmascape normal raids where you can get the tokens for i350. Between this and the Mendacity you'll accumulate as you go you'll be able to meet all current ilvl requirements rather easily.

If you need help figuring out where to do any of this stuff my discord is in my signature and we're both on Aether datacenter so if you're running things when I have free time I don't mind popping in on a healer for the quick queue and the safety when you catch up to the normal tier raid content.

Good luck at 70! There is a lot more progression you can do past what I've mentioned here but it's a good look at where to start in my opinion.
