What determines where Duty Roulette puts you?

So I just did a leveling roulette, right. And here was the party:

    Level 57 SMN (Me)
    Level 70 SCH
    Level 68 BLM
    Level 35 DRK

and we got put in Sastasha. There was no logical reason for any of us to go into that dungeon specifically, so why that one? Why not the highest that we could all do (which in this case would be Qarn or Brayflox)?

    been there done that....

I'm just convinced the game hates our group....

We can go in with all 70's and still get sastasha.....

It's by far my least favourite. Too basic and no skills.

Almost as if its purpose is to introduce new players to group content or something. Weird.

But anyway, I agree. Roulette shouldn't be completely random like that. If all four people choose roulette it should put the group in the current dungeon for the lowest level player. I always groan when the entire party is level 50+ and roulette puts us in Tam-Tara instead of Sohm Al or something.

It doesn't really introduce new player to group content when we all have at least one job over 60.

It roulettes by whatever the lowest party member can do. So if they are lvl 30, itll roulette from lvl 15-30. That means that you will be more likely to get things like Sastasha since the roulette pool is smaller for that player compared to the 60s in your group.

    Sucks but yeah, it happens.

To be frank, Normally when I roulette, I get Sastasha, Tam Tara, or the third one simply because we get new or low lvl players in my groups. Yeah its not interesting but its not the worst thing ever.

Same reason the alliance roulette dumps your ass into LotA every time.

RNGesus favours no one, now get to it while it laughs at your paltry rolls.

Depends on whether you enter it solo, in an incomplete party or a complete party.

By design it should help fill queues where they are needed. If there are twelve players queueing, nine for roulette and three for individual dungeons, technically every player queueing for roulette should be sent to one specific dungeon chosen by the players that queued for specific dungeons. If they did queue for sastasha, tam-tara and toto-rak...sucks. All nine players will get the hated dungeons.

If there is no one queueing for a dungeon that can be accessed by everyone in the party that entered a roulette (or if the party is pre-made), it should be completely random. Same if everyone is paired from a roulette.

This is only speculation based on the purpose of the roulette though. And it's pretty reasonable to expect something along those lines...with obvious mess-ups due to computer random not being random (and most random generators are low-effort ones that are even less random than that).

As for "it shouldn't be like that"...it should. It's a roulette. At the end of the dungeon you receive experience bonus to "match" the highest level dungeon, so you're not losing on experience (but are on drops and sucks if you don't finish it for some reason). Don't want random?! Then queue for a dungeon specifically. You will get similar experience from the highest available dungeon run normally as you would from a roulette with a bonus.

Youll probably get less exp overall simply because itll probably take you longer to get into dungeon if youre queuing for specific dungeons rather than roulette.

Only sucks is if you need a dungeon for msq prog.

Yes and no. The issue can arise that youre losing actual gameplay experience. I've mostly been leveling a SAM lately by doing my leveling roulette....and I've gotten everything under Brayflox...to where after one particular sastasha one my group ran an at level for our lowest which happened to be vault, and part of me was unfamiliar playing with a higher leveled SAM. It's not just about the XP earned from the roulette. At least in my honest opinion, and I'm probably not the only one leveling that way either. When you go from smashing three buttons to oh man I can use all of my hotbar, sometimes you're bound to forget things, or simply not run as smoothly as before. The fact also remains the past week I've queued with my group for leveling and gotten Hatali once, Sastasha twice, and Copperbell once.... Lowest Level in our group was 56. Now I get some random computer generating is bad...but this is bordering on ridiculous. That doesn't count the one Ruda run either.
