    New level 70 crafter

Just got to 70 on CUL and ALC and still working on the other classes. May be a bit until I get them to 70, but I wanted to ask a few questions since I have not done much crafting since the 2.xx patches lol...

    (1) What should I do for melds? Can't do overmelds since I don't have the other crafters leveled up and funds are on the lower side atm.

    (2) Any good rotation guides or macros out there for a lower stated character? I did purchase some of the new crafter gear off the MB though, but don't have any melds atm.

    Thanks in advance!

Grats on getting those two to 70.

Melding is partly a matter of personal taste, partly a matter of stat caps. Ideally, you’ll overmeld to hit the stat caps, or as close as possible to the stat caps. For some pieces that’s not possible (and even if it is, it is horribly expensive) and that’s where you need to pick the stat, or two, that you want to emphasize.

Personally, I think that CP is the main stat to aim for, followed by just enough Craftsmanship to make the recipe easily, with the rest of the room taken by Control.

Use the T6 materia that you can use with a melding NPC. After that ... level the other crafters up and do your own overmelds.

As for lower level crafters, that depends upon just how low they are. Leveling recipes can usually be gotten through with the usual techniques (Progress moves until the next one would finish, then using Inner Quiet and Quality moves to max that out, using Durability restoratives and CP restoratives as necessary/available). Its the starred recipes that take extra oomph to get done HQ’d. At 50 that was just powering through it IIRC. At 60, Rath’s Rotation and a higher stat, faster alternative (starting with Muscle Memory). At 70, those two can be tweaked to get you the results you desire, depending upon your stats.

actually if your not in a hurry i wouldnt say grind red scrips for the books.. just do the custom deliveries, it will take a couple months to get all the books but the effort is minimal.

that being said if your using collectables to level your other jobs then you will have a lot of red scrips avaiable to you in time. and you could use them to help stockpile materia for when you can finally overmeld.

also if your not levelling quickly i wouldnt worry about overmelds at all til you have all jobs at 70. focus on supplying mats to the market that you can easily make and youll start to earn gil for the next patch cycle and then you might be in a better place to utilise the melds.

Collectibles are really only good for leveling Gatherers. They cost too much for so little overall return to do them with Crafters. It IS worthwhile getting all of the books, don’t get me wrong, but after those Collectibles as a crafter are usually not worthwhile.

Based on your Lodestone Profile, just keep doing what you are doing.

You have fully augmented Mining gear and for the purpose of red and yellow scrips that's all you need for crafting as well. I just came back 3 days ago from an 8 month break and all I have is 290 gear, (not including Weaver where I tested augmented) I can make most of the items they ask for to get yellow. Getting the 9600 red for the books is a matter of gathering. I suspect I will just get the 6-8 mill needed to buy the new gear. Rather than make it myself. After that I will CP cap and see what it lets me do.
