Im sorry(though not even a little surprised) that you didnt get the resolution you wanted. You can watch and see if Balmung gets reopened to transfers. This is unlikely to happen any time soon, but not impossible. Alternatively, you could make a second character on the server your brother winds up on. Play that character with him, play on your main character when he isnt around. Cross-server friends list and LSs can make keeping in contact easier too.

While it would be awesome to someday see character creation allowed, regardless of server status, on any server you already have another character on -- as it won't change how many people are likely to be online at any given time -- and for accounts recruited through or created from gifts given by your account to similarly be able to circumvent server locks...

Looks like that's what I have to do but not just me. My cousin and uncle are already here. I was doing so good.

You can temp do events together as well like raids dungeons using party finder Sucks but they open and close transfers more often than you think.

Hmm... I don't know if this will help you or not, but there is housing available everywhere on my server. It may benefit you all to swap servers. At least then when you recruit someone, they'll be able to join you immediately. You could probably live together in Shirogane, too. There are that many houses. Why not try making an alt to see what you think? If you're worried about the population, I hear Cactuar is pretty busy. If you want to roleplay, Mateus is always open. It's just that you may not find housing there. No matter what you decide, I wish you all luck!
