    I'm extremely over leveled

So, I'm one of those players that will do pretty much every single side quest in the area my main quest is in even before I complete the main. I am currently a level 32 scholar doing lvl 21 quests. Is there any way to even this out? I really want to go to the lvl 30 dungeons and get some gear but I can't.

This is normal if you do a complete clear of any area maps because the experience (MSQ specifically) has been buffed with the release of the new expansions. Best thing you can do is have another job on hand as a “side quest” job, and one for your MSQ if you really want to do a clean sweep your first run through but not outlevel the Main Scenario. Or you can continue to clean your maps and see just how high you get before you reach another expansion—the latter is what I’m doing on an alt because I’m curious to see if I can hit 60 or even 70 before I get to Heavensward.

You can purchase better gear from the market board/vendors if you would like, but the MSQ (and sidequests) will start giving you gear the further you progress. I personally wouldn’t worry about it, since you aren’t running any dungeons where your current gear would be a hinderance (I’m assuming you have the gear from the Hall of Novice, which can last you until level 20/25 depending on your class), but you can always buy some cheap normal quality white pieces to hold you over for future dungeons. There is an optional level 20 dungeon called Halatali that you have probably unlocked (the quest is in Vesper Bay) that drops level 20 gear pieces (including weapon if you don’t have a level 20 weapon already), and your MSQ will give you a level 24 dungeon (Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak) that will drop level 24 gear.

If you opt to purchase gear from vendors, make sure to accept the allagan pieces from the quests so that you can sell them back to vendors to make up some of the gil spent. :3

You only really need to have equipment that matches the level of the quests you are doing, not your actual level.

If you're doing your scholar job quests you'll probably want better equipment for that, or if you attempt the Lv35 optional dungeon 'The Sunken Temple of Qarn' at this point (the quest should be available now from Vesper Bay, and the MSQ takes you to that area around Lv25).

And yes, it's quite possible to level a class entirely through doing MSQ + all the sidequests (and maybe dungeons as the story calls for it). If you're running roulettes on top of that, you can easily get overleveled.

If you want to do all the content without over-leveling it, divide it between multiple classes. Level another job up to the range of the quests you're on, and then start alternating quests and dungeons between it and scholar, doing them with whichever is currently lower level. (If in addition to MSQ and sidequests, you're also doing roulettes regularly and re-running dungeons for gear drops, you might need more than one additional job.)

And who knows, maybe you'll find you really like one of the other jobs you try out while doing this.

Activate each Class you have access too.
Always start with the lowest level quest in the area, whether side quest or main quest. Let the level of the quest determine order.
Progress a Class 5 levels, doing this for each Class. Keeping them all even.
This allows you to play main story quests and side quests with all of your Classes instead of just one.
They all benefit from the experience and you end up right at if not slightly over each quests requirement.

You can definitely do dungeons at any level. Although you will still be getting a lot of EXP, it syncs level seamlessly. However, yeah, I know how you feel. It does feel lame, like you're not supposed to be actually playing the game or something, but it was a compromise implemented so that those that only wanted to do max level stuff wouldn't take so long to access it because you have to do the entire Main Scenario to do the serious stuff.

I think leveling all your classes at once is unnecessary, unless you want to.

But certainly you can comfortably level two jobs alongside playing the MSQ, if you're doing all the sidequests and roulettes (with maybe FATEs and leves) as well. I'd suggest keeping one of your jobs at least two levels above the current quest level, to avoid being caught out when the level goes up.

Something else to be careful of, when you're overleveled, is that you'll unlock sidequests that are designed to be undertaken later in the story. Check the level of the quests, and don't take them if they're a higher level than the MSQ or over in a different town - the story is going to send you there at the appropriate level. (I made this mistake - as soon as I unlocked travel to the other cities, I spent hours walking to prettymuch every town on the map, picking up quests and getting ever more overleveled... and then got sent to all those places over again when I finally got back to working on the MSQ.)

If you don't want to out level the MSQ, then leave the side quests for an alt and focus the MSQ with your main. Only do side quests that are requisites for something you need. Also, I wouldn't worry about being over-leveled for the MSQ. The solo instances and dungeons it throws you into will be level synced. Some solo instances can be quite challenging so being a little above the level requirement is advantageous.

As for gear, the advice given so far is really good. I wouldn't rely on dungeon drops to gear up, but rather use the dungeon drops you happen to get if it is in upgrade to your current slot. I also want to add that your GC also has really good gear that provides bonuses when equipped with other GC gear. These cost company seals which you can get through various means. Also, keep any GC items you purchase on a retainer to use when you level alt classes.

Good luck out there! Perhaps I will see you at the Sunken Temple of Qarn. One of my favorite leveling dungeons!
