    New returning player.

    Hi all.

    I am returning to FF14.

I have a character on Odin however I made a new toon as on Omega to learn the ropes.

I have since moved my main toon over to that server however I really have no clue what I am doing on the character any more and I am just condsiering playing my new character I have started.

Question is how is it for new comers these days to get back into the game and learn the ropes.

I currently only have the base game I haven't purchased Heavensward or Stormblood as of yet.

It really isnt that bad. I would give the same advice to a returnee trying to get back up to speed as i would give to a new player who bought a level skip potion. It depends on your base-level of comfort. If you feel completely like a fish out of water, start off by talking to The Smith. This is an NPC who can be found in multiple locations. The easiest is the Inn in all 3 starting towns. He offers beginner level training tailored to your classes role in a party. You probly dont need the gear he gives out, but the training is useful if youre completely lost. If you are lost but not completely, then i would say the way to go is to run some lower level content and work your way back up to whatever level you previously reached. You can do this in stages. Read the spell/action descriptions of your moves and your traits, look for what combos together and what seems good. When youre ready do an easy fate or two at the level range you start to feel uncomfortable. Then use your chocobo(or a friend) to do a boss fate or two. Then run a dungeon or two(if you cant go with friends, tell the group youre new/returnee and trying to get back up to speed). Once you have a grip on a particular level range, jump forward 5-10 levels and do it again. A fast learner can jump from 0-60 in a couple of hours just going in steps, but theres no rush if it takes a bit to feel comfortable. And on the new character in particular(possibly both), you can join your servers Novice Network to find a source of in-game advice to help you along the way. Just sit in any of the major towns and shout for an invite and someone will tag you fairly quick.

And of course, with specific questions feel free to ask on the forums here and someone is likely to know the answer. Welcome back and good luck!
