    FFXIV lagging every 4 seconds?

    I've had this problem for the last week or so, every 4 seconds my PC will lag for a millisecond, its very strange and hard to explain! I don't have this problem in any other game or in Windows either.

    I have done a fresh format, tried a different HDD, reinstalled XIV, tried different GFX drivers etc.

    I really don't know what the issue is and I'm out of options on what to do next.

    Win7 x64
    ATI 5850 (latest drivers)
    6GB DDR3
    7200 HDD

    Making a video now, to try and show the problem.

    I can't see anything unusual happening in task manager either. @@!

    No spikes in the core usage graph either?

    Nope, I've just checked both HDD's with HDTune and both are showing (warning c7 error) so I'm hoping this is the problem.

    Both are still in warranty so I'm going to get them swapped out.

    Would someone do me a favour and quickly hit the 'health' tab in HDTune and see if they have any warnings?

    Thanks

    Isn't that the UDMA crc error count from SMART readings? Every SMART reading should be green or your HDD is nearing its end xD

    Stupid question but, are you using winamp or some other mp3 program while playing ffxiv? Winamp used to do this to ffxiv when I had both running but I got it to work without lag somehow.

    You could try completely disabling sound and removing all hardware you don't need to pinpoint the problem.

    Betting you have some settings turned up too high. Post your graphical settings so we can see what you're running.

    I've located the problem, it was a dodgy connection on one of the SATA connectors! ^_^;
