    Interesting discussion.

It seems to me that people who are not in favor of open world content don't like it when there is 100 people zerging down 1 enemy.

I am not completely against stuff like fates or hunts since its makes the game more colorful but I understand were you are coming from. However, this game already has a blueprint of open world content that prevents people outside of your own party limit restrictions from participating. That is battlecraft leves, but they practically abandoned this in SB due to few people doing them. SE doesn't necessarily have to completely focus on instanced content. They can just revive stuff like battlecraft leves; make it more challenging that it requires a light party at minimum, and offer better rewards than just gil and exp.

This is the only open word content I can think of that won't become a complete zergfest. Maybe someone else can think of better alternatives.

It’s more the sense of accomplishment when you complete difficult content. When you finally clear that last hurdle and look back you realize that you had fun figuring it out. These days in the “I need it now” world people have list that. Count led with YouTube showing people how to do something the thrill of discovery is lost and people just can’t be allowed to learn it themselves because it slows someone else down.

They tried in 1.0, there were lots of areas off the beaten path that were loaded with level 99 mobs that served no purpose other then to hinder exploration. Then things got worse when King Moogle entered the game and to access it meant having to kill three open world boss mobs that were sandwiched in with level 99 Treants that the only way to pass was to put on walk and slip by them. Not something very easy to do in the middle of battle sometimes especially when the walk to stop noise proximity mechanic worked only 75% of the time. Let's....just say it wasn't a very popular and well liked thing.
