Angry Please stop gender-locking clothing already

I really want that new Faerie Tale Prince's Attire for my female char, but I guess that's $18 you're losing because sexism is still a thing in 2018 apparently. Seriously though, $18 for virtual clothing and you can't even make it wearable by both males and females? Are you trying to make money or not?

Not sure it could even be called Prince and Princess attire if it could be worn by any gender. Not saying a female can't be a prince or male a princess, but the concept seems to be based on traditional regal attire and gender effects that a lot.

Why even have genders, why not just make everybody androgynous? *sigh*

Look, can we keep gender/lifestyle politics out of this game? That would be great, thanks.

There's enough of that stupid crap IRL, I don't want to see it here in this game or on these forums. Nothing against any specific group or people or anything, and if they make gender clothing not locked, hey fine, but how about we not complain about their decisions either way?

So you're saying we should just grit our teeth and accept everything cause that's just how it is? If that's what you're saying then, it's not gonna happen so I'd save your breath. If we don't speak up and voice our opinions on things in the game, how do we expect crap to get fixed? SE seems to rely on customer feedback for some of their decisions in the game. Hardcore people wanted something stronger than Savage, they got Ultimate. People wanted male bunny suits, guess what? We got them...took a while but we got them. And do you know how Maeka? I'll tell you. Cause players COMPLAINED.

Even in a game like this, gender/lifestyle "politics" matters. That's how we make change happen. By speaking out and letting SE know how their paying customers feel, we make an impact. I know it's shocking for you and difficult for you to understand but it works. Remember the "All Greed" issue? Guess what? Players didn't like that crap and SE changed it back.

Think before you post. Just saiyan.

At least these have one for each gender.

Meanwhile things in-game like the Quaintrelle set were released without a male-only variant.

Usho, you are assuming majority of people want it, then why Maeka have more votes?

Honestly I DONT want political stuff in my game, NO! There are some things I agree with Square Enix, who could say if I am majority or minority in my opinion?

About what you said: "If we don't speak up and voice our opinions on things in the game, how do we expect crap to get fixed?" "Think before you post. Just saiyan." 1. Maeka think before post, it is a opinion and I agree with it. 2. I honestly dont see the problem with the gender stuff.

Dev team could say "it's our game, if you dont like our content you are free to play other games", I dont think they should kneel before userbase with EVERYTHING they want. I have a conservative mentality and what if majority of the userbase of this game have this mentality? Will say everyone is wrong and need kneel before your wills? Honestly, I'm tired with all this sjw bla bla bla thinking the world should stop for them.

You can express your opinion, yes. But stop saying everyone who disagree with this sjw stuff is wrong and need change. There is no right/wrong in this discussion. If they want keep this, then fine, it's their game and I agree with it.

About the raid stuff you said, perhaps the dev team look the 24-man raid like: "it's for glamour or alternative jobs", since there is i370 items in the game and they wanted see how could work only with greed. But sometimes the idea is solid and nobody is forcing you to play the game and accept everything SE do.

Even if they did SJWs would still complain only about how "SE SHOULD ADD DEMIB0I, DEMIGIRL AND NON BINARY CLOTHING FOR US GENDERSPECIAL SNOWFLAKES UwU" Make your own MMORPG with made up genders in Hot Topic reject gear, patches and buttons running around if you want it so bad. (oh wait that happened already and it ended up being a scam! lol)

Look around the web, people have "ways" of putting buff dudes in a dress, ladies in the manderville torn suit or removing the wings from the angel and devil cash shop gear. Well if you are a PC player.

"gender/lifestyle politics" really shouldn't matter in video games, as they're not supposed to be a reflection of real life.

Feel free to keep on voicing opinions and complaining about things, just don't expect everything to be changed to accommodate to those complaints.

Personally I would find it boring if there was basically nothing to distinguish male and female characters in game. I chose my character because I like the way it looks and the options that are available to it. I'm not saying I mind of some things are for both, but I do enjoy the variety also. Why bother having different character models if they are just going to wind up looking exactly the same? It's honestly that reason that I'll decide not to give my character a hairstyle that I know is available for both male and female avatars. Again, I'm not saying I mind the unisex hairstyles or that I care how others create their characters, but I personally like to have a style that is for sure only female. It's just more interesting to me that way and to know there are also unique options I could choose if I created a male avatar that would distinguish him from my female avatars.

In this case there are two different unique styles which is great. I don't see why they both need to be available to both character types.

In this particular case, agreed. I see no reason why that wouldn't suit a female character as well. But if only because they're a paired set, I'm not about to care. I just obviously won't be buying it since I can't use it on my main.

To be fair, there have historically been female nobles that have gone by the title-equivalent of Prince even when there was a female variant. Though it is possible that the two titles came with a greater connotation of role (e.g. general, leader, or landlord vs. a manner of diplomat or a decorative post) that outweighed the gender connotation.

Moreover, they *could* make two version of the clothes and simply have it change form with player gender, as it already does with race. Every non-gendered piece of gear allegedly needs to be manually revised for every race (hence refusal to design any race not almost entirely humanoid, as that would take more work) and yet still manages to function off a single item ID... There's something very strange going on with the coding if the same can't be done with a simple check of gender.

If players could gain access to a vendor who selss each piece of gear they bought from Mog Station to any character on their account, and gender-specific items gave two version thereof -- for male and female each -- even if a bit more expensive, you'd probably see far more sales as well...

Honestly... this. Whatever this in-game world wants to do with their cultures, genders included, that's the world's content. If one feels like their place isn't being considered therein, well, why should it be, necessarily? It's a different world. Especially if yours is already a minority side of things, you're kinda doing the gaming equivalent of going to Tibet for a Five Guys burger.

    (Tangential)
What scares me most, though, are the people who would be willing to take balance by reduction, e.g. those who would be happy to lose access to trousers on female characters just so their male characters could keep an equal number of gear pieces to which they have access... Because reducing what's available to someone else clearly helps your own situation right?...
